RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grand Canyon-Mather Campground

Has anyone had a problem with the rangers when camping in a tent only site with their FWC or similar rig at Mather Campground at the Grand Canyon. Some sites say tent only as allowable equipment. Thanks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Disconnecting Iota charger

I have come to the conclusion that the IOTA in my 2015 Grandby is perfectly adequate for charging my LiPo 100ah for as often as I plug in. The battery will reach about 98% charge overnight with fridge running and quickly tops off once I get some sun on my panel. I’ll buy a few six packs with the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Disconnecting Iota charger

Interesting. When I initially tried to charge my new LiPo battery I did not see the higher voltage. I should give it another look. I am currently running the battery down for storage but will try the charger again. This what the label on my unit states. Accor o your information it seems capable.

It has the dongle port but also a sticker that says it has been disabled.

I wish my Iota had the dongle capability. Sounds like it works well.

I observe the lower charge voltage from my Iota as well. I have decided to leave the Iota in place since my solar set up is charging my 100ah LiPo sufficiently. I have also chosen to not go the DCDC route and have disconnected my ACR to keep the truck battery separate from camper. So far so...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Electrical basics and upgrading to lithium!

Yes, I have asked many dumb questions. I have a pretty good setup now, at least in my eyes, thanks to advice from this forum.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Disconnecting Iota charger

Thanks for the information. I am going to keep the Iota for now. Solar charge is pretty fast even with some cloudy skies. I disconnected the ground on the ACR. This appears to have separated the truck batteries from camper. Checking the ACR and the green led which indicates closed position is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Disconnecting Iota charger

I was kind of thinking of just keeping iota but power anxiety was getting to me. ? I don’t use much power, 12v frig, heater on cold nights, phone. My new lithium, 100ah, 160w and new Victron 100/30 MPPT contoller seem to be huge upgrade from AGMs and old PWM controller. Fridge running from...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Disconnecting Iota charger

I do not have a fuse labeled converter on my dc fuse block. I do have a 120 breaker for the the converter. I looked up the installation for the iota and it states a battery positive connection. There are so many wires in my cabinet it is hard to tell how FWC wired it. I may need to take the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Disconnecting Iota charger

I would like to disconnect the IOTA in my 2015 FWC and using a Victron IP22. I most likely will not use shore power much but would like to have the ability since I won’t always have enough solar and do not have a DCDC charger. I can see where the IOTA is wired to the battery. Would it be...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium Battery

I have everything hooked up. 100ah SOK, Victron Smartshunt, and Victron 100/30 MPPT controller. Questions: 1. Do I set up the Smartshunt and controller with the same voltage parameters, etc? 2. Does the Victron 100/30 controller default to lithium charging mode? I looked at the parameters...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium Battery

Nice setup. I have a FWC Grandby with front dinette. The batteries are by the back door. Since I am replacing 2 AGMs I have plenty of room. The SOK is slightly wider but shouldn’t be an issue. I was just out today looking at how I might rearrange things. I won’t have the DCDC, at least at first...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium Battery

I think I am going with SOK 100AH Bluetooth BMS. My question is: I do not have a Lithium battery charger. I believe charging initially via my solar, with a Victron 100/30 controller, should work as that will be my primary charging. Is there a reason that I would need to initially charge with a...

Thanks for the information. I agree with you about those 3 brands. I think it is between SOK and Powerusrus. I want the low temp cut off and Bluetooth as you mention. I think I will foregontje heated model as has been pointed out that these are in the living space. If I am going to gone for the...

Can normal ring connectors be used to hook battery cables on lithium batteries or do they require a special connector?

Great. Your energy usage sounds very much like mine. I use a Victron Smartshunt and am happy with the data I get. Basically fridge and heater in cold nights and maybe a phone charge. Thanks again

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lithium Battery

Thanks for sharing your experience with heated battery. I think I would probably get by without the heated. I will most likely only camp in the snow a few times and then I have the heater to keep the battery above cut off. On the plus side, it sounds like the low temp cut off worked as it...
