    270 Degree Awning Options

The eezi-awn Batwing is at a reasonable price currently. Mainline Overland is running a july4 sale and it’s discounted at Equip1 also. The brackets for install are expensive though IMO, I opted not to go 270, and am just getting a Swift to replace the Fiamma I left open for a rain storm. Just...

Experience with newer Ram suspension & death wobbles?

2016 Ram 2500 CTD and then a 2019 Ram 2500 6.4L Big Horn. Loaded Hawk pretty much full time in truck(s). Never experienced anything but solid steering.

    Portable 100w Solar Panel

I used 8ga Shirbly Solar Panel Extension... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B55ZLDWH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I didn’t care for the voltage drop I was seeing and it was problematic with lithium and the solar suitcase. I eventually switched my suitcase to a series setup also.

    Solar Roof & Portable

Just saw this. Here is what I used for my suitcase. For a 25ft extension I went 8 gauge because I saw such a voltage drop with the extension Jon linked. https://a.co/d/0n1JB7a converter from MC4 to SAE https://a.co/d/0n1JB7a Ended up using a 90 degree as I didn’t like the SAE and polarity...

    Battery Voltage question

I went 2x100ah SOK. No issues, and love the performance. I also went all out replacing the IOTA/IQ4, ACR etc, with VE IP22 30 charger, Orion DC-DC 30a Charger + new wiring to truck, VE shunt, and added a VE MPPT 100/30 and roof and suitcase solar. I added a fan to the ip22 and added fans to the...

    Solo Stove

We got a Ranger, and have the grill and heat deflector. it rides next to my GSD and the grill and heat deflector tuck into my lifted back seat. We used it every day for 2 weeks on our last trip. Cooked on it, etc. We didn’t get it for use during fire bans, but because of all the nasty stuff we...

    Another SOLAR question

#2 Yes you can use that converter you linked at amazon. I HIGHLY recommend you use a multimeter to check polarity and voltages. If you don’t know how, learn. Mine was reversed, but don’t just assume it’s reversed. #1. I don’t know what size MPPT controller you have, or how the roof panels are...

Storing a guitar in a pop up camper

I carry a guitar or old time banjo with me when camping, and both when going to festivals. I use a hard case usually, but will use a soft case for festivals. I just set them next to the window, next to my side dinette when camped, or lay them on top of my folded down dinette when driving. Never...

    2014 Hawk Wiring Upgrades

This shows my unused positive from truck, yours should go to dc2dc as I understand it. It also shows the original 30a thermal fuse with the red wire that goes to batt+ (I have it going through an additional breaker to disconnect batteries from everything). The other end of the 30a thermal fuse...

    2014 Hawk Wiring Upgrades

I just recently did this, though I rewired from the truck, so my white wire that comes from the 3-way trolling connection is left taped up. I also chucked the separator. I didn’t take pics, and tbh am more of a schematic guy. I remember 2 wires of the same/similar gauge. 1 is from/for...

    Victron IP22 install question

So I just got the VE IP22 30a AC/DC charger installed and setup. I did add a second fan, and can hear it running in bulk when charging at 30a, but it isn’t bad. Charger was only warm, in no way hot. Ran it through a cycle and am really happy with it. Plus it integrates with my VE network which...

    Victron IP22 install question

So i just returned from an extended trip with the Hawk and my wife and dogs. First week wasn’t bad, I managed with solar. But during second week we camped at a spot with nothing but shade trees (NF) and couldn’t even use the solar suitcase. By 3rd day I decided to charge using the generator and...

    Solar Roof & Portable

Just finished wiring it up and testing it, shading the roof and then un-shading it, and shading/un-shading the portable panels. It’s working as I would hope, though my roof doesn’t perform as well laying flat with morning sun. What was cool, is I was getting voltage output and a small charge in...

    Victron IP22 install question

My little generator can do 7.5a A/C 120. I don’t know what the load is from the IP22. I used to use it all the time with the IOTA DLS-30 /IQ4 with no issues in eco mode. Super quiet Honda. Regardless, the Honda handles it no issued, so I cannot imagine it ills all that much.

    Solar Roof & Portable

Vic, thanks for the reply. I know it may have sounded newbie. I am to solar, but not parallel/series or DC circuits. I have 37 years as a radar tech. I was hoping for real world experience. In theory, I agree. In shade my roof should still make the voltage, just no current, and my suitcase in...

    Solar Roof & Portable

So I have a renogy portable 200w panel w/ 25ft 8ga extension I plug into back SAE that goes to a VE MPPT. Occasionally the MPPT would not start charging due to voltage differences <5vdc. So, I rewired my Renogy suitcase in series, and now get 36vdc to MPPT and have good production. I just...

    Victron IP22 install question

And I think I got my answer from a reviewer on etrailer regarding the PD-9130LV: “ Installed and working well in my RV. The only CON is that it doesn't put out the full rated 30 Amps for very long. I fully drained my new SOK 100Ah LiFePO battery and ran a full charge cycle. I got 30 Amps for...

FWC Victron DC to DC charger upgrade help / 2017 Hawk

This what i did also, I use a reusable zip tie to stow it. Plus since I didn’t drill my bed, if I replace the truck or sell camper, I can just pull the wires and reuse.
