    Overland Report on FWC Display

Unfortunately wasn't able to make the trip. Any pictures to post showing the sights? Don -

Crossing the CA border with FWC

Thanks for all the help and insight guys (especially Old Crow). We'll be taking the bicycles and a motorcycle, and will make sure to take the registration cards with us in the truck for quick production. I think we'll try and take a minimum of food with us, and keep the beer and wine to a case...

Crossing the CA border with FWC

Thanks for the insight all. What about food... I know there are a lot of restrictions that I'm currently trying to understand, but how strict are they? If we take enough for the next day, meaning some meat and veggies, will they care?

Crossing the CA border with FWC

Hey All, I've searched the topics, but couldn't find any specifics about the crossing and inspections of the campers at a crossing. Basically, we are taking 2 weeks going through mostly Nova Scotia this summer. I'll be traveling with my family (wife/son/dog). After reading a few reports on...

What do you use for a door mat?

We use a colorful all rubber mat, two of them specifically. Work great and don't keep any water/mud...

    Firestone airbags and daystar cradles?

Hmmm... Thanks for the link. This is the first I'd heard of that. I wonder if is out of abundance of caution on the part of Firestone, or if it's the result of issues they've seen. May need to call Firestone, but I doubt they will give much additional information. Don -

    Hawk Flatbed Build Thread

Looks awesome Carl, and I love that 80/20 stuff. It's still holding up very well for me. I just added a roto-pax mount as well to make i easier to fill up the on-board tank from distant sources, although it would take a long time. Mostly, we'll probably use it for camp/cooking water when...

    Flat Towing HELP?

I've never heard of that issue either, but I'd definitely look at your caster. We use a small dual axle trailer with ours when we go wheeling because I'm always afraid of breaking stuff. But ours is not built up either... Almost all stock.

    Southwest Colorado

Great discussion. We're making almost the same trip in August. Following along for as much info as possible. One note on the Alpine loop, I've heard a few areas will be "fun" in a full sized rig like yours and mine. I'll be carring a trailer with a cycle for some of that exploring and...

    GWNF 1st trip of '17!

Nice... I was stuck home trying to be productive. 1/2 of the backsplash tile installed in the kitchen, oil changed in two cars and rear breaks replaces on the wife's car. I would have rather been camping and hiking with you.. :D Actually looks like a cool campground. I'll have to try it...

    FWC Flatbed Discussion

Updated my original post. For the most part though, I don't miss the rear view mirror much. I'm used to driving with trailer anyway, so that usually kills the center mirror as well. The new Ford trucks have factory wireless rear view cameras for the trailer which seems pretty trick and...

    FWC Flatbed Discussion

    1. Who did you choose for the flatbed- name, location, why you chose them etc. - Alum-Line, delivered to the Mainline Overland shop. Picked it up from their shop and brought it back to my house to install. From the 4 quotes I got, they were the best price for the custom size I wanted. 2. How...

    Overnighting at Walmart?

For what's it's worth, we've spent half a dozen nights on the east coast at Cracker Barrels, and they are usually much better than Walmarts with respect to traffic and noise. They are also very accommodating with most venues having specific RV parking if needed. If both exist, I would...

    Trasharoo

I'm guessing you have a standard slide in, so this may not work for you, but I built a rack out of 80/20 material on the back of mine to hold some of the extra stuff like our trash-a-roo. We usually put it over the mat-tracks in the center. The 80/20 materials are like big kid legos and can be...

Camper insurance - mounted full time

I have Progressive, and after being given the options, I choose to do a "defined value" option that allows you to pic the value you want to be covered against in case of a full write off. It was actually cheaper (by $10) than the standard insurance rate for the truck alone. Go figure. Don -

Finally Picking it up! DRE's new camper

Just a few pictures from recent outings. Took a week long trip to Acadia NP, the White Mountains in NH, and even hit up VT for two days on the way home. Everything worked out great and it was so nice to be on a longer trip. We could have easily kept going to another couple weeks. The issues...

    Hawk Flatbed Build Thread

I just had to change mine out due to issues with the old ACR. I like the Blue Sea much better. Did they include the switch for the Blue Sea On/Auto/Off function? If you look on my build, you can see inside the box. I can confirm it's a pain to get to. About 15 screws that you can't see have...

    Isotherm Refrigerator in New FWC

On mine, there is a slide mechanism on the top, outside of the frame that catches the door latch. It slides to a position more towards the middle to allow the door to be "latched" in a slightly open position for drying out. I'd think you'd know if you were having that problem though, but...

    Hawk Flatbed Build Thread

Looks real nice... Were the issues with Alum-Line or the fitment? I had issues with Alum-Line getting the dimensions correct, but they eventually got it corrected.

    Charging 4 wheel camper battery

Just to through in one more opinion, I was having this issue too, and for me it was the stock battery separator. I'm sure the truck battery to camper wiring could have been making my situation worse, but changing to the Blue Sea unit has made a big difference. The "I'm not going to close"...

Rigid Industries 93031 SR-Series White 30" Spot/Flood Combo LED Light Bar FOR SALE

Not in the market just yet, but how did you like the light pattern of these? The single row (SR) will fit on my ARB bumper a lot better than the double row version. Don -
