    The top needs the pump to go up, opening the valve and gravity will bring it down. Do NOT drive with the top up.

    I agree as well. Your proposed floor plan may work for you but would not work for most people. When you go to sell it most buyers will look at it and see the work/money needed to get it back to something that works for them. The converted cargo trailer sounds like the way to go.

    My 99' has a switch next to the thermostat that turns the furnace off. In the ON position the thermostat controls the furnace. In the OFF position the furnace won't turn on.

    Those will likely work but for the extra $125 I would buy the heavy duty ones. That is what came with my new to me Alaskan.
