    Thermal pack in older FWCs

Thanks again. It turned out great and looks so much cleaner than the other ideas I had.

    Thermal pack in older FWCs

Hard to tell from this pic, but the upper velcro mount hangs from the same mounting location as the vinyl . You can push it up against the vinyl or push it up against the roof.

    Thermal pack in older FWCs

I have done the reflextix. Tried both inside and outside(condensation testing) and i am moving away from it cause the noise when its windy bothers me. I think that crinkling noise just cuts through my sleeping brain and wakes me up. But I have sewn up a a thermal pack using a quilted jacket...

    Thermal pack in older FWCs

Yours must be different than the 6 other FWCs I have been in. All the ones I have seen have the upper velcro sewn to a 4” section of vinyl that is then sandwiched between the roof and the the vinyl sides. Here is a pic. You can see the perforated head liner and then the white vinyl with velcro...

    Thermal pack in older FWCs

I am not buying it from them. And to install it like they do, I would have to completly remove the the vinyl from the roof. Then sandwich the velcro flap between the roof frame and the vinyl. Thats how I will do it if I ever have to replace the vinyl but at this point my roof and vinyl are in...

Increase head space on FWC Fleet

Wouldnt be that hard to take the vinyl off, then add a 1x4 aluminum rectangle tube(welded to existing frame) to the bottom of the camper where the vinyl attaches. Then you dont have to extend the lifting panels or struts. I added 2x4 alum rectangle tube to the bottom of mine. I built a new...

    Thermal pack in older FWCs

I have a 99 Hawk that is not thermal pack ready. I can handle installing the lower velcro on the wall, but am having trouble coming up with best way to hang it from the ceiling. I thought about using flat head self tapers to attach the velcro on the roof perimeter tubing. But I am concerned that...

    Lifting panel hinge pin

Thanks I will give it a try tomorrow. I tried grabbing it with vice grips and push it back in and couldnt get it to move, but the top was up. With the top down it might be a pain to try and line up the un pinned hinge teeth, maybe I will get a second set of hands to help.

    Lifting panel hinge pin

I spent a bunch of time searching this forum and the web, but I must be using the wrong key words. So I could use some help. I just noticed that on my rear lift panel the pin that holds the metal hinge together has moved out about 2”. I tried forcing it back in with no luck. I have no idea if...

Mounting ARB awning on 2018 FWC Hawk (12 steps)

I have the same awning and have been scheming on how to mount it on my hawk. Thanks for the ideas. Any issue with having the clamps so far apart on that side? My clamps will both have to be moved so I have been cautious about jumping into it.

1999 Hawk to 2019 Tundra mounting help

Here are some pics of the mount spacing. The rear mount’s turnbuckle hole is in the same exact location that the old mount was. I havent installed the new mounts on the fronts yet so I can still move them if it would make the tiedown system more reliable. Dont mind the rough wood, I am prepping...

1999 Hawk to 2019 Tundra mounting help

Thanks Stan, thats good info to have. I picked it up with this truck and it is a tight fit, the rear has about 1/2” clearance from the tailgate bracing. I did have to raise the floor 2” to clear the bedsides. My plan is to run this one for a year or 2 to get the wife’s buy-in on a new FWC.

Thank you. That makes sense. I also followed others advice and picked up a rubber mat to help with any movement.

1999 Hawk to 2019 Tundra mounting help

Thank you, that is very helpful. I am a metal worker and will build large backing plates for the bed undersides. The eyelets I have are beefy, made in the US and have a 2600 load. Turnbuckles are torklifts forged and will have jam nuts. I will move to jaw/jaw turnbuckle ends later. I replaced...

1999 Hawk to 2019 Tundra mounting help

I have tried contacting FWC multiple times and havent heard back yet. What I am dealing with is the camper elevator bolts are 6” from front(no bumpers) and my rear are 2” from the bump out in the rear. I am at the point where I want to mount the forged eyelets in the bed of my truck. I know you...
