Advocacy Groups - the official thread

Looking for suggestions for the advocacy section again. Let's keep it on topic this time. Specifically I am looking for:

1. Advocacy groups working as land stewards in areas specific to the geographic areas part of the site.
2. Advocacy groups working as land stewards in National Parks
3. Access groups with responsible use objectives (ie - Blue Ribbon Coalition)

I'd like to avoid groups that have short term objectives - ie stopping one construction project or defeating one bill.

I will prioritize groups that contributing members want WTW to make a donation to on their behalf.

Question for Highz related to a post in the other thread: Does the Audubon society have official state chapters or is there just one organization?

I would suggest the Grand Canyon Trust, located in Flagstaff they work for resource preservation in and around the greater grand canyon area.

I also recommend the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, based in Salt Lake city they are a advocacy group working to preserve the wilderness and wildlands of Utah.

By keeping the area friendly to climbers it keeps the area friendly to hiking and exploring.

Sorry for the looong delay answering your question about Audubon. It has state and regional chapters, yes.

Audubon has a long-standing reputation as a land steward and much more. They are widespread, in all states to my knowledge. Another advocacy group that has been successful for twenty years is the Access Fund
