As noted in an earlier post, I'm trying to do a cheap substitute for the front bi-fold. I purchased a piece of 1x6 oak for the job. My plan is to mount this to the ceiling from side to side (80" across). I will then use 1x4 or 2x2 wood blocks on each end to hold the top up, since the front bi-fold it almost totally disconnected from the hinge, and not holding the top up.
What are the best screws to mount to the aluminum frame in the ceiling? Will self tapping screws work, or will I need to pre drill the holes? I'm thinking of 2 screws in each of the aluminum frame struts. Here is a picture of a quick mock up I did with some plywood I had laying around.
Thanks!
