We kept the camper on the truck after our Vermont trip and headed down to Brown County to view the leaves. They weren't as good as Vermont or New York. The real color was mid to late week and with rain today they were falling hard and fast.

Some nice views! Fall color was very late here- not really at peak color yet. It made for an extended but less spectacular season. Still my favorite time of year. I agree with Frank, always good to get out. Thanks for posting your report.

Hey J.D. Looked like a nice weekend. Wanted to meet you there but my wife was selling junk , do'nt tell her that, at covered bridge. Maybe next time. Mitch

I know what you mean about the colors in upstate NY, but you managed to find a lot of color and have a nice trip. I love the fire tower.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Winterized a week ago and tarped the camper yesterday. We managed to spend 32 nights in the camper for 2015. My goal was 40 nights. I guess until I retire, we will be somewhere around 35-40 nights. The mid-west isn't the easiest place to camp during mid-June through August due to the heat and humidity. What I would give is to load up and be in the mountains in a couple of hours, where it is cool. In the mean time we will just have to get creative. jd

Nice photos of the Indiana Alps, aka Brown County. A long-ago co-worker was from Brown County and he always referred to going home as "heading to the Alps".

Some of Indiana's only known placer gold and diamond discoveries were in Brown County. The outfit I used to work for did some studies related to looking for the source kimberlite.
