I think this is in the appropriate sub-forum -- it relates to my trip planning.
This is a question for you folks who've visited Baja recently, especially you frequent visitors.
So, you recent and/or frequent Baja visitors -- those who don't want to be incommunicado:
What do you do for a cell connection in Baja? I guess I'm asking about how to avoid extreme roaming charges -- especially for data usage.
I've heard of people buying short-term local SIM cards in/for European trips, so maybe that same approach works in Mexico...?
Of course, maybe there are large regions where there's no cell signal at all -- that's fine, a separate issue...but your experience with that is welcome, too.
I have cell phone service through Verizon, and my phone is a "global" phone, so it works on most bands world-wide.
I know there's discussion of this in Baja traveler-resource websites...just looking for first-person info from WTWers, maybe a second opinion.
Thanks.
