Nice to see that you had fall colors along the Dempster. Did you make it all the way up to Inuvik? Any animal sightings along the Dempster.

Gene we didn't go much further than Tombstone. The weather seemed to be against us as we went north, hail, rain, some touches of snow on the peaks. But the colors were nice.We had the best color along the Old Denali.Couldn't believe the fall tundra color.Lots of animals in the park.Hunting season was on so some of them went into hiding. We had about 7 days of seeing the 'mountain' in some way.Several days of great clear blue sky.More to come.

Thanks for the pictures Frank. If you want a bit of a roundabout trip heading south. Cross the bridge at Johnsons Crossing 90 miles south of whitehorse. go up the hill and turn left and go up the South Canol road. the south canol comes out on the robert Campbell just down towards watson lake below the ross River turn off.
Good camping spots on the road.
If you are coming down the alaska highway and need a place to camp. there is a free B.C forest site at Morley lake. You cross the morley river. just past the closed down morely river lodge. cross the bridge and just past the construction on the left you will see a very small sign next to a small dirt road. There is a very short drive to Morely lake and you most likely will be on your own.
Also past swift river go up the hill and you will see a road sign with a plane on it the sign points to a dirt road. not a big sign. turn left off the highway and it is about 5/6 miles to Daughney lake. You will come to an airstrip and just drive down the side of the strip. the road continues on past the strip. At the end os the lake. It is a good size lake. You will pass Pine lake on your left on the way in but keep going.
Past Ranchareia on the right there are a few roads which go down to the ranchareia river. good stopping spots there. You will also past rancharia come to Veronica lake. This lake is right beside the road on the right. There is a bit of a drop off the highway to the small flat area above the lake. follow the track back away from the lake and go about as far as you can and you will see the trail go into the trees and there is a real nice spot right beside the river. good grayling fishing there too.
Enjoy the trip..

Frank, INCREDIBLE pictures! I have been in Canada but never alaska for the fall colors. I agree with Robbie on the South Canol Road. I do hope you take Cassair, rather than the Alaska Hwy. Again, time permitting, look into driving from Watson Lake to Bella Coola, and then the ferry to Vancouver.

Frank,
Good to meet you in Watson Lake on Tuesday. I had a a good trip north. Arrived home at 3 this morning. Hope you miss all the rain.
Have a great trip..they wewr going down the Alaska highway to try to miss the rain..

Great photos. The colours up there look fantastic. I have seen them once as well. Really amazing. So cool how many animals you were able to photograph! Thanks for sharing and keep it coming, please.

Stop by if you come down the Sea-to-Sky Highway and pass through Squamish. We eat well, and have beer and a big driveway.
