Do you carry guns when you go camping?

Wandering how many of my fellow campers take firearms with them when you go camping. I enjoy building and shooting all kinds of firearms when I go camping. I have a concealed weapons permit and normally carry a J frame 38 5 shot revolver or Springfield xds .45acp most of the time when I am not working. My permit covers all the states I like to visit, so that is rarely a concern. We do camp where Bears and other critters come around that might be unwanted so I always like to have at least something with me in the back country. My six year old is almost always with me so I am very careful about keeping them locked up when they are not in my pocket. Most of the time I pack the rifles and other firearms in cases locked in the camper and once we set up camp, they get moved to the cab of the truck and its kept locked up unless we are shooting. Have any of you found any better solutions for keeping them secure? Or what do you carry for either protection or for sport?
