Dometic cooling

I have a 2012 Dometic 65. I've never used it in this kind of heat, consistent 100+ degree days. Freezer works well with temps in the 0 to 10* range but I can't get the main part of the fridge below 50*. Batteries operating at 90% or greater.

I know from 100* to 50* is 50* of cooling, but its not enough for most food.

Is this typical performance?

I can think of two things to check:
  1. Make sure the condenser is not covered with dust and debris. It needs to be cleaned periodically. Dust acts as insulation and blocks air flow: the condenser cannot get rid of heat.
  2. Make sure you have at least the minimum ventilation behind the refrigerator; should be in the installation specs. I doesn't hurt to add a fan (as high up as possible) to force the hot air out.

I'll check the condenser. I have two fans.
Recently retired and I leave for Alaska tomorrow so my ambient temperatures will cool.
