We got a call from Steve this morning telling us our brand new FWC Eagle is ready for delivery this Friday. Alas, hubby has a doctor appointment that he has had for 6 weeks (specialist in back pain) on Friday so this won't work. Also, our daughter will be away for 5 days so no one would be home to water the garden and care for our animals. All friends and neighbors work so we will have to postpone our pick up a bit longer. Steve says they are running about 12 weeks from order to finish now and that the new facility is wonderful. We are so excited as we thought our delivery would be mid-August so this is the best ever news.

We just returned from 3 days in Winthrop via the North cascades Highway. Since Washington has had the 3rd wettest spring ever on both sides of the mountains, the Methow Valley was green. It won't be later this summer, though, so we took lots of photos which I hope to share via my blog whenever I find the time to edit. Trip report in a few days after I catch up on pulling weeds.

I am sure we could find some volunteers amongst this group for sure. We have never bought anything of this magnitude brand new. Camera gear yes, but that was at max $2200 for a camera body. So, this is a big deal to have a brand new camper made just for us. Pretty special.

We didn't go too overboard but got what folks on here suggested (we wouldn't have ordered the screen door on the first pass through the list of options).

Options:
Deer Park Apache fabric
Dinette seating
Screen door
Fantastic Fan
Aluminum roof rack
3 way fridge (hubby wouldn't budge on this one even after I gave him some good solid arguments from you folks)
Heater
Lift assist
Extra battery
Solar panel
Mechanical camper jacks
Swing out brackets for our Toyota Tacoma
Electric water pump
Porta potti
Go anywhere package (a bit more than what you would pay to assemble yourself but we can just pick up the camper and go)

I believe that is enough and plenty of weight for the Tacoma. We pack pretty light and won't fill the water tank to capacity.
usually, when we vacation, we have more camera gear than personal stuff. I have always packed light, no need for makeup or that sort of fluff.

We are so excited. This is a big deal, a life changer, and our ticket to explore our great nation. We have a Senior Parks Pass and are buying the Discover Pass which covers Washington State parks, DNR, Fish and Game. A few maps, guidebooks and directories and we are set.

For the National Forests and maybe National Parks, don't forget the Northwest Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass or, if you qualify, one of the Senior Pass options for national forests and parks. There is more National Forest roads than state roads in WA that you will likely be taking advantage of, plus you may end up in multiple states soon also. Enjoy!

Yep, we have the Senior National Parks/Forest pass. A stop at the Sedro Woolley, WA USFS office confirmed that we can use our Senior Pass at both national parks and in the national forests and even get 1/2 off camping in the national forests. One good thing about getting older.

Washington has many areas to explore on both state and federal land plus just driving around back roads will reveal some unique places. Of course, we honor property rights and won't drive on a private road although we have been tempted. It used to be that you could explore anywhere but no more. Gates and more gates.
