FWC Eagle Tie downs on Tacoma + adding hydraulic lifts?

Hello,

I am looking at buying a used Eagle of a guy who has a Gen 2 Tacoma and I have a Gen 3 - will same tie downs work and do I need to add anything to my truck to bring it home?

Also - the Eagle doesnt have hydraulic lifts for the lid - are able to be retrofitted?

Yes, you can add gas struts to help lifting the top.

I will let the Toyota community chime in regarding tie downs.

Yes, you can add struts. I have a 2005 Eagle with Yakima tracks/roof rack that I had a local dealer install 30# struts on front and rear. Adding them made a world of difference. We tried 40#, but it was actually pretty hard to drop the top with 40's.

It's a pretty tight fit from the center (lower) anchor to the inside of the upper clips. You have to drill through from the front, and then anchor behind the support boards.
