The tech folks behind the scenes have been making headway on restoring content - members photos and comments - that was lost during the necessary software upgrade.

Issues this summer

Check out this example -

Soldier Meadows Hot Springs

We are told the tech folks are still working on formatting and restoring the ability for members to submit new photos and comments to each spot page.

This "other half" of WTW is an important part of the website and it is very nice to see it working its way back to life.

Good news and thanks! :)

Ahh... Solider Meadows. Spent a cold and snowy Thanksgiving there years ago. Parked the kids on lawn chairs in the hot stream and fed them dinner there. Long, snowy drive out to Cedarville then really long drive to Reno while trying to head west on 44 or 36. So frazzled by the drive we got a motel room for the night in Reno before we could get home. Good times.

Yes, the geographical areas, photos and comments have been very much improved over the past few months. I do have one issue, however.

Why are "featured photos" taken by DirtyDog (http://www.wanderthewest.com/index.php/spot/_/ballarat-r717), ski3pin (http://www.wanderthewest.com/index.php/spot/_/telescope-peak-trail-r12428) and others given a credit in the lower right corner of the image, but no pics by myownself (http://www.wanderthewest.com/index.php/spot/_/barker-ranch-r12427) are so credited?

Inquiring minds need to know.

Doug you aren't alone.I have wondered that for some time but just didn't take the time to ask.
Hope we get an answer.

Interesting, Frank. I tought I was the only one under the foot of the overlord clique.

I'm told that we are now able to, once again, submit comments on areas and parks. Check it out. Still do not have a link to submit photos from an area page, but it is being worked on.

This must be quite a project, tweaking the software to get back features and abilities we had prior to the needed upgrade. I've been asking for an update on progress around every 10 or 12 days. I'm surprised they haven't fired me.

The other issue about photo credits was reported to the admin folks.

Glad to hear that your requests have gotten more broken parts working, 3pin. What a long ordeal. Some upgrade, eh?

I still don't have my photos properly credited when most other do. Why was that simple issue fixed for other members months (years?) ago but not for me and Frank? Is it something we said?

The photo credits have been updated, for my shots, at least. What about you, Frank?

Thanks to Andy, Jeff, and the Site Team for getting this--and other recent bugs--resolved!

Ooops, looks like I spoke too soon. Now all the photos in the National Parks Gallery seem to be missing! For me and Foxfire, anyway.

Huzza, now all the NP and Geo Area photos seem to be back! Fixed again!

The Tech & Admin folks offer this report -

"There is now a link on the spot pages that will allow you to add new photos to a specific spot. We will provide an update when we have the other issues ironed out. Thanks."

I just tried it out and it worked great - added a pic of my rig in the campsite in the North Campground at Bryce Canyon.

My thanks to the Tech & Admin folks as this should allow us forum members to more easily enhance the site's great information.

Question => What does the "Follow Image" (or maybe it says "Follow Photo") check box on the Review & Publish screen do? It is underneath the thumbnail.

Bill, if you hit the follow button you will get email notices when people comment on your photo. Did you get one when I commented?

Yes, it is great that this feature has been restored--many thanks to Admin!

Thanks, Stew. That makes perfect sense, now that you've explained it. And, yes, I did get an email notice that you'd commented on my photo - great feature.
