Hi lift jack replacement?

Stumbled upon this. http://www.snakeraci...-hydra-jac.html

Not all the functionality of a hi lift but a lot lighter and easier to use. Expensive though.

Well, handy mans are pretty heavy for a reason, but this looks like a first model or so, probably could use a stand and some attachments, who knows in a few years and lots of proven field work could be the new high lift, but for now the handy man has been there when allot of us have needed it----but one never says no to anything that may keep us "adventuring" along out there, especially if it's lighter!:LOL:

I was noticing it looks like it would work fine on the Jeep, probably some accessories to make it useful for the truck. I still don't carry one for the truck. Its going to get me in trouble one day. Hard to use a bottle jack when you're stuck in the mud or snow.

That's what I discovered in my incident. Now that I'm carrying the Hi Lift and the Lift-Mate I'll do better next time.

I can't remember if I got one of those or one of these http://www.amazon.com/Hi-Lift-Jack-BL-250-Bumper-Lift/dp/B00042JSNY/ref=pd_sim_auto_5
Must be time to go through my supplies.

No more incidents, Mark? That was one of the best threads I've ever seen and probably helped allot of folks! Got your bags of kitty litter in a garbage bag too-got to make you safe, so the adventures keep coming! :cool:

Thanks for the reminder about kitty litter -- I'd forgotten and haven't added that yet to my bag of tricks, but I will.
No more incidents yet, though I did tempt fate a bit last week when I crossed a semi-frozen stream at Potts Ranch, Nevada... But I'll cover that in a trip report in the next day or so.

Expensive though.

$500?
How do you think they pay for the much needed;

RamChrome plated and polished, 22 mm diameter

Rod GuideCNC machined bronze, Teflon® coating

Oil Rad flo high-temp foam resistant suspension fluid, 10.1 oz. (300 ml)

And especially;

FinishMirror polished, clear cadmium plating on most parts, chrome optional

Yeah, but when someone breaks out their hi lift and you break out your fancy blind me chrome bling lifter, just think how everyone will bow down at your magnificence. Totally worth it in my mind. Speaking of minds anyone see mine laying around anywhere :eek:

It's probably near mine-the one laying next to the hi lift jack handle that kicked back and knocked it out as I was blinded by all the all that chrome and forgot to duck-- !:p !

The hydro jack thing is for offroad/desert race cars and trucks where ever pound counts. I just don't see them as a real solution for jacking up trucks like ours. I've seen one of them in person and I wouldn't trust it to be my only means of recovery - maybe in a desert race where my pit crew could come in and save me :D

With that said - most race teams still carry a full aluminum floor jack with a skid for using it in the dirt and rocks...
