I know this is even further from camping than most "lounge" topics, but I think there are a few musicians on WTW -- you know who you are -- so maybe they'll take a look at this YouTube video.
(95 million others have taken a look -- why not you?):

YouTube: Walk off the Earth: Somebody That I Used to Know (cover of Gotye song)

I thought the guitar was a single-player instrument...guess not necessarily.

At the next WTW gathering, if there aren't enough instruments for everyone to participate maybe we could try something like this.

Nice find Mark. I like it.

That's actually a well done cover of that song. And Gotye was on SNL last week. This group got the exciting entertainment level Gotye's live playing provides pretty spot on too. That makes it even funnier to me.

When I posted this link I was familiar with the original Gotye version from hearing it on the radio, but I hadn't seen him perform.
Later I found a YouTube video of Gotye (with Kimbra) performing on the Jimmy Kimmel show.
Then I found on YouTube the original video made by Gotye (with Kimbra) for that song. Kinda artsy weird-sh!t, as music videos often are, but interesting.

Walk Off the Earth performed that song -- with 5 people on one guitar -- on the Ellen show. Not quite as smooth as their video version, but it shows that at least they can perform it live without the help of studio tricks.
I spent some time checking out other music videos on YouTube by Walk Off the Earth. They just do covers, but they're talented musically, and have show some clever ideas in their videos.

I also looked up Walk of the Earth after you posted this. They are very talented and quite amusing. Several of their vids have had millions of hits.

BTW, does the guy on the right in the vid above look like Michael Nesmith (The Monkees) to any of the other old farts that grew up watching them?

Hmmm...I hadn't thought of that...and I am old and farty enough to remember the Monkees.
I got their second album, "More of the Monkees" -- an Xmas or b-day present from my parents. I loved it.
The cap and dark hair make him Nesmith-like, but Nesmith didn't have a beard.

And, is this a copycat, what seems to be a lip-sync version, not quite the same folks as Walk off the earth?

And, another...
Somebody That I Used to Know - Walk off the Earth (Funniest Parody)

If you want to see a very clever and hilarious non-lip-sync parody, check out this one:
The Key of Awesome - WOTE Parody - Somebody That I Used to Know
(that is, they're not lip-syncing Walk Off the Earth...maybe lip-syncing themselves, though)

The Med school version and WOTE's own parrody are both pretty funny.

After replying, I too looked up some of their other videos, which led me other music videos (you know how YouTube is), but I didn't bookmark anything. Funny, I never liked music videos in the day of pop songs on MTV, but some of this new stuff is very well done. I stayed up way to late last night, but I had fun.

Thanks for sharing Mark.

I can see a WtW parody.

Some possible lyrics:

I remember when we used camp in tents.
Like when you said that sunset was so beautiful you could die.

...

You can get addicted to any kind of camping.
It's best with good friends and when we're drinking Ted's beer.
(I apologize for assuming a relationship with Ted, whom I've never met, but the lyrics fit the rythm)

...
(Female voice)
We have a family now, and we need more comfort.
It's time to get off the ground, and get further into the outback.
...

(Chorus)
Tent camping is what we used to know.

 I like it! And no apology necessary. We need to put together a rally so we can record this. Unfortunately I really do sing like the guy in the Joko Klaas Co. video Alley-Kat posted above, so I won't be in it. Guess I'll just have to provide the beer.

I imagine you playing the part of "The Bearded Guy" and holding up a pint, six-pack, or what ever of your favorite brew. Don't forget the Ralley at 8000 feet thread. I plan to make a follow up post about heart-worm medication, directions, etc. in the May-June time frame.

heart-worm medication?
When do we need to start taking this?

The Inyo Mountains are an area known to have mosquitoes which carry Heart-Worm larvae. If you plan to bring a dog, that dog should be taking a preventative medication, which is inexpsensive. One month before, and one month after visiting an area with heart-worm is my veterinarian's rull of thumb. So a June-early July time time frame for getting your dog on a preventative should be more than sufficient. Thus the reason why I will suggest this in the May-June time frame.

If the dog already has heart worms, then the medication can make things worse. My vet won't prescribe a preventative without a physical examination. The best part is that the preventative comes in a really tasty treat that dogs want to eat (no tricking them with pills wrapped in peanut butter).

As a human, you don't have a chance, except to keep the mosquitos off you. The preventative is a more angonizing death than the heart-worm infection.

BTW, have you looked west in the last few evenings?

Speaking of interesting guitar playing, anyone else a fan of Rodrigo y Gabriella?

and

Some of my favorite spanish guitar music.
