I'm behind on posting trip reports. Here is one from earlier in the summer. We visited Itasca State Park, home of the headwaters of the MIssissippi River:

Thanks Al.
It's nice when you are building a log cabin to have such large logs.
We missed that part of the river on our 2012 trip ,but stayed just down stream at Lake Winnibigoshish.
We enjoyed the area. I see why you like living in Minnesota.

Thanks for the comments!

Frank- those logs may be a bit larger than needed, haha.

jd- lots to do there. My wife also does a century bike ride there in September every year- very scenic with the fall colors.

We took a stroll across the river last year. Water is a lot cleaner than it is in St. Louis. Pretty country.

Mitch- that's great! Yeah, the river starts out in great condition, stays pretty good until it hits the Twin Cities, then it's all downhill. Thanks for the comments.
