Thanks to Thanksgiving I finally had time to work on my kitchen cabinet modification.

I didn't like the way the original table was working in these campers. It's too heavy and takes up too much space in the camper.

My solution is to integrate the table (or tables in my case) into the cabinet.

I used 2 sets of low profile drawer sliders to support the tables. Seeing the space available under the sink I also installed and additional shelf in there, this almost doubles the usable space.

This is the last pic of my new table setup, ready to be used.

Having the cabinet apart I also installed a standard 110V power outlet. The inverter is installed below the battery separator. The switch to turn the inverter on and off is right next to the furnace control.

I'd say I had a productive Thanksgiving. Now it's time to put it to use.

Thanx DirtyDog, it could have been even better with some previous measuring and planing.

After seeing the results, I think in the future I would install the shelf and table under the sink higher and on the same level as the table over the water tank. This way I could hang an additional board between the two tables and make just one long surface.

Another thing I might do in the future is install a door to access the wiring behind the power outlet, control box and furnace control.

I guess having a camper is a learning experience.

What is it with us fwc/atc owners and modifying things? Guess we're all just handy folks. Thanks for the idea on the inverter. Been trying to figure out how to install mine, its not really designed to be installed but I have an idea that should work now.

Yep, I think these are some very useful cabinet mods. Great idea. Do you have any pictures of the cabinets before you started? I don't really know what a Bobcat cabinet looks like up close other than what's shown on the ATC web site.

Like I said in the camper dolly thread, Ben might have to start fielding requests for these mods from potential ATC customers.

Now I have to re-think my cabinet re-configuration, again. After 2 attempts I thought I was close, but it still isn't "right" and I like your ideas. You know I'm not going to sleep very well tonight, what with visions of drawers and doors floating around in my head.

LOL. No you won't hear a table saw at 3:00 AM from my house. A radial arm saw, though...no not even that.

Hey Ben, modesty apart, 90% of the cabinet was made by your guys. I just tweaked the design a little bit.

If it wasn't for the quality of the cabinets and the great craftsmanship of the assembly the whole thing wouldn't have been possible.

Everything is just so easy to take apart, a few well placed screws, proper holes, straight cuts, impeccable fit of all the parts. It's just a pleasure to play around with all the parts.

The effort you guys put into every little detail is just unbelievable. Who in this world would possibly paint screw heads in colors matching the wood they go through? And it's two different colors! Not just the screws you see on the front, no, even far back inside the cabinets.

I'd say it's crazy, or genius, but I do love it.

Nice mod, those are awesom and look perfect for working on your laptop from the couch. The look like they are on standard drawer slide outs, do they have any extra supports? How strong are they? Can you chop veggies on them or do you have to be carefull with putting much pressure on?

Hi Rich,

I still don't know how strong they are, but my 2 year old was sitting on them with no problem. I guess the slide outs should be strong enough for at least 20lbs. For the moment I don't think I'll need extra support. Once the first set of sliders is bent I might change my mind.
