More Respect for this Instrument

That's pretty cool.

Check this kid out...he takes Ukelele playing to a whole different level:

Bought one of his albums years ago and it is pretty solid.

I wish I could push these links to my YouTube ready Blueray player so that I could easily watch them on my TV. Regardless, if it's on a laptop or TV, these videos are a lot of fun.

Pretty cool, thanks SunMan! It is great to see young people expressing themselves through music, especially in new and creative ways. It gives me hope.

I've enjoyed these as well. Somewhat related, we played Iz's version of Over the Rainbow at my mother's funeral two weeks ago.

Very nice selection Ted and a such a nice choice for remembering and honoring your Mom.

One of the Lady's all time favorites is Iz's medley of Somewhere Over the Rainbow and It's a Wonderful World.

What a coincident. I recently bought a ukulele and I'm trying to learn how to play. Another six months and I'll have Three Blind Mice mastered. Maybe.

Ted,

I'm sorry for your loss. I've liked that version every since I first heard it. I bet there wasn't a dry eye in the place by the end.

Ski3pin, sorry for the hijack.

highz and EdoHart, thank you for the condolences. She had a long, happy life and I was there when she passed peacefully.

SimiMike, I'm ok with no Three blind Mice. But we will expect a rousing rendition of Tiptoe Through the Tulips at OX. Bonus points if you wear a Tiny Tim wig.

And Ski3pin, my apologies again. You try to bring respect to the ukulele and I ruin it by bringing up Tiny Tim.

Ted, apology accepted although an apology is really not necessary. I will bring this thread back around and also tie it together with another music thread.

Ride of the Valkyries

That's a cool one. :)

And connecting the ukulele with the Guitar/Walk Off the Earth thread, WOTE feature the ukulele in several of their songs/videos, such as this cover of a Hawaiian-Xmas classic:

Mele Kalikimaka
(yeah, this is kind of an obvious/cliche piece for this instrument, but WOTE include the uke in other non-obvious songs, too)
At the end of the video they talk about selling the uke from the video in an auction for charity.
