Just received my new ATC ocelot a bit over a week ago. Came back from Sacramento, over pass, and then north on 395 back into Oregon. Not too much hiway drama, but did see an 18 wheeler, with trailer pointing backwards on the west side of the interstate... We had 2 nights at a hot springs, and my gal was super stoked with snow falling in the morning , while in hot spring.
The gmc seems to handle the the 'shell' model fine. my goal is to keep the camper as lite as possible. i put heavier duty cooper discoverer tires on recently. next week it will go onto dolly, and into garage. planning to use 80/20 for shelving and box construction. put a 270 deg Alu Cab awning . thats it for now. i subbed that out by the way to Mule Exp in pdx..

Yippee! It is very fun to have a decent camper and a reliable truck. Congratulations!

Congrats on your new Ocelot! Post pics of your interior build.

Congratulations on your new camper!

Congratulations goinoregon on your new ATC. We slept our first night in a snow storm after getting ours. Also interested in seeing your pics.

Congratulation on the Ocelot goinoregon! Love the excitement of the first trip. We drove to Sacramento from Colorado and made it up the coast to Oregon through the redwoods when we picked our ATC Panther up.

Best of luck and enjoy the build!

How will you mount the awning and on which side?
i had mule expedition, in pdx, mount on passenger side. and used their custom mtg brkts which attach to jack mts and extend up to roof area.

i think everyone knows what the camper looks like, but this is first days in driveway. the awning is on passenger side. i got 16.5 mpg coming back from sacramento, over to reno, and north on 395, and on to pdx.

Congrats on camper. That awning seems like a great way to go. I have the passenger side Fiamma Awning so I just built a rear awning mimicking the discontinued Four Wheel Camper rear awning. I'd still consider a 270 degree unit though.

I only have one question. Did you have any fun at all?
The Mule Expeditions people in Portland are very good.

Yes, had some fun on the drive home. spent 2 nights at summer lakes hot springs, and we were able to use one of 3 pools, each morning. hot spring in snow was great. all snow gone in afternoon. time to relax, and plan for future. and saw 2 grandkids in hood river on way home. so , all good
