Neat camper dolly for loading.

Saw this on FB. May modify my dolly. I would add a removable cross bar or two to lower the camper onto. I asked and he used 2" sq .125 wall and .250 plate over the casters for the jacks to set on.

That is pretty cool.

Seems like a good solution for those who what to store their camper in the garage, but do not have enough door height. I get around this problem with a utility trailer. Takes much longer though.

That is really cool, I think my biggest problem is that I don’t have a flat driveway.

I use 8" dia wheels on my dolly because my driveway is sloped and is is made of textured pavers. I bought the casters from Caster City. The sales person Greg Howard was most knowledgable and very helpful with his recommendations after I described the use. Some time ago (approaching 2 years) I sketched up a loader similar in concept to the loader in the video at the link above, except I added 4 vertical members attached to a "U" shaped frame which can be raised or lowered with hydraulic or chain lift so the camper can by stored, rolled, lifted and loaded using one device. I have not built it yet and am still using the camper jacks. I have been looking into the best way to safely do the lifting so it can be raised level to the base..

We always recommend that you use the largest wheel possible, but I wouldn't recommend anything smaller than a 6" diameter wheel.

I would not recommend the injection molded Polyurethane Tire on a Plastic Center--you will need to replace the wheels more often than you will want.

Even though the center can rust, the Polyurethane Tires that are chemically bonded(glued) to an iron center will offer much better service than the injection molded style. I am partial to our Slightly Crowned Polyurethane Tire on Heavy Iron Center.

The slight crown on the tire makes it a little easier to maneuver/change direction than a wheel with a flat profile tread face, plus they have Sealed Precision Ball Bearings that require no maintenance.

Any of the Polyurethane Tires on METAL Centers would be a good choice and you may want to consider using either the Welded on Hand Operated or Bolt On Foot Operated Swivel Lock for two of the casters.

The swivel lock will give you better control if you have to roll the dolly more than just a couple of feet--when engaged the swivel lock makes the caster function like a rigid caster, but if you need to "jockey" it into the storage position, you can disengage it and you have 4 swivel casters again.
