push/safety bar

Over the weekend the front roof support collapsed on me. I have an older camper, I am not sure what to call this thing, the safety (or push) bar bent. On my camper this is made out of an aluminum wire. I see on the newer campers this looks like it was replaced by a '2x4'. Has anyone replaced the aluminum wire with a '2x4', and maybe have some plans on how to do it? Or post some pic of how the 2x4 is attached to the root support panel, and how push end attaches to the roof.

Is the 2x4 attached to the root support panel with a door hinge?

thanks,

The ‘pushing end’ on my 2017 Hawk attaches to the ceiling with a piece of webbing that hangs down and snaps onto the push bar. The snap tore out on first trip so we simply have a hole in the webbing that slips over the remaining snap base, which becomes a nice little peg if you back it out a few turns with a screwdriver. The hole and peg method is easier to work than the snap was and I would recommend it if you are rigging something up.
