Does anyone have a rear FWC awning they hate or no longer use.......and live along the I-5 west coast corridor.... ?

We are heading south sometime soon and want to at least fit one and maybe buy if it suits our needs.

Yep.... will probably fab our own but wanting the chance to try one for a few weeks .

We can always modify it or sell it later if we don't like it.

Hey Dave,

I have the FWC rear awning and we do like it. It works well and set up time is ~ 2-3 minutes. We set it up when we stay in one place 2+ days. You are welcome to come by (where on I-5 are you) and check it out. I have a few road trips coming up, but if your trip is scheduled during my down time you are welcome to borrow it. I was just chatting with FWC service dept and they said this (rear) awning is no longer being offered? Unfortunately for you, I live off Hwy 101 in Humboldt County. Shoot me a PM if interested.

Hi Ace

We live in far northwest Oregon and are travelling to Baja is a week or so.

Did we meet you briefly at Escondida Beach in Baja last year.

Seem to recognize your handle from Expedition Portal ?

David, just an FYI... I bought a rear awning from a Hawk owner on here. He did not want to sell me the mounting hardware. I do not blame him I would not want the empty mounting holes either. It took me awhile to find the correct Marine hardware. FWC did not have anymore in stock. So if you find one be sure to look and order the hardware ASAP... oh and it Marine Brass so not inexpensive!

Oh edited to add.... I have a mod that really helps keep it deployed it's a bar from my OZ tent... works great.

Thanks

I knew I would need the brackets....got a close up image to share ?

Bimini top parts are what you're looking for.
Deck brackets & end caps by LTC are like factory units.

Sew the Keder tube onto the end of tarp material & slide into awning support on back top of roof & you're almost done.

I was looking to make my own rear awning similar to FWC design but of much lighter weight materials. Haven't gotten around to it. Factory stuff is very heavy duty & difficult to maneuver at night, alone, in wind & rain although hell built for stout. Trying to take down factory unit in same conditions to save awning is equally unattractive. I would sew a zipper on the Keder flap to ease dissambly in wind.

Good luck on the awning.
