Didnt' do fordyce this year, just took the suv run. We went by fordcye lake, signal peak (that rock hut was used by the railroad to spot fires in the snow sheds) and some other lake whos name I don't remember. Was a nice day of tooling around dirt roads with the Jeep. This area is just north of Cisco Grove, CA. The guy camped next to me had a pop up camper with all the bells and whistles, indoor shower, two propane tanks etc. He looked at mine longinly, appreciated the weight difference. But as we've heard before "this is the one the wife wanted".

More pics. Most of what we did I didnt' even need to engage the hubs in the jeep. My truck could have done any/most of it but I'd only do the drive into fordyce lake, signal peak is rougher than I prefer to take the truck, some of you would do it though.

As usual I forget to change the date on the camera.

Looks like you had a good time. Nice set up too. It's nice to have a base camp and another vehicle to explore with. Thanks for the picks.

Cheers,

Mike

Is this the Sierra Trek that is put on with nightly party/dancing floor, venders and raffle by the California Association, 4wd clubs at Meadow Lake?

I went to the August 27-30, 1998 that was posponed from August 6-9 because of too much water.

Glad you had a good time and thanks for the pictures.

Same trek except this year it was moved to the campground at cisco grove. Talking to people some liked the move, others want it back at meadow lake. I like meadow lake better too but theres two things. One, if the forest service say no run due to fire danger its all over. Two, the old man that owns the property at meadow lake isn't going to be around much longer and his kids have no intention of letting the trek use the property once its their (probably want to sell be my guess).

Fordyce trail has grown so rough that this year they split it into two runs. One half exits at the water crossing and the other half starts there.
