I installed this counter top drop in propane stove about 5.5 years ago. We love it. it works well. Dometic bought out SMEV awhile back.


Today we did our annual big clean.

I have noticed that the rubber grate grommets have hardened from heat.


One is broken and no longer snaps back into the base.

I don't dare try to remove the remaining grommets but I'd like to thoroughly scrub the stove including under the grommet.

I'd like to replace them, maybe even keep an extra set around. Here's a source that I found for a set of eight grommets -

I am disinclined to pay $60 for eight small rubber grommets. Has anyone discovered a reasonable replacement part for these stoves?


Another small beef I have is that the screws that hold the burners together should be stainless steel and not rust. This area is always prone to spills.

I'd expect maybe the grates would be stainless steel also.

I have the same stove. I bought a grommet kit at Harbor Freight that has the proper size. Lots of spares!!

If you can measure the current ones, or the rods/holes. McMaster sells high temperature and high quality grommets in a huge number of sizes:

I also have the HF grommet kit, and my experience has been that these dry out and crack extremely quickly - better quality ones may be in order given the heat.

Here's an update. In regards to using other grommets, I was never able to find an easy replacement. I found that the OEM grommets are now a bit more reasonably priced -

disregard the text that says it is a set of 8. It is 4 grommets as the title states.

On a recent trip we had trouble keeping the larger (right) burner lit, a problem that usually points to the thermocouple.

I ordered the replacement -

along with the burner grommets.

I removed the stove last weekend to remove and replace the thermocouple. I did not take any photos. I apologize. Currently it is very difficult for me to see and focus the camera. If anyone needs help with disassembling this stove, please PM and I'll help as I can. It is not difficult and fairly straightforward.

I also had a long standing problem. The igniter for the smaller (left) burner never worked. Since I had the stove apart, I wanted to see if I could fix it. I found that the inside large nut that holds the push button igniter control in place was not in place and hanging loose on the igniter wires. I also found the wire to the left burner igniter was backed out from its connector on the push button control. After reconnecting, I found that pushing the igniter button caused the connector to slowly come apart. A carefully placed small zip tie holding the connector in place solved the problem Again, sorry for the lack of a photo but if you are handy enough to pull apart a propane cook top, seeing where to put a zip tie on the connector should be pretty self explanatory.

Now the stove works like a champ. The whole process took a little under an hour.
