Looking for a spring break destination that is in a Southwest spot but DOESN'T have crazy college kids rampaging the area. Someplace quiet, warm, and peaceful. Anyplace form TX to CA. Thanks!
I have three weeks off of work from mid-March to early April — dates that usually coincide with spring breakers. Would LOVE to camp in the desert with some small towns nearby. I know that Havasu and Palm Springs go crazy during this time with college students, so I plan to avoid those.
My wife and I would love to camp in a desert area not too far from civilization. Some easy hiking with nice spring scenery (love to see the desert flowers bloom). But also not too far from nice restaurants and amenities. Thanks!
Did you have a look at Anza Borrego State Park? There are lots of boondocking possibilities and you'd be lucky seeing wildflowers.
The other destination I could recommend is Mojave Nat. Preserve. But there no restaurant is nearby.
Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is excellent for decent day hikes and lots of wildflowers. You could then make your way to Tucson for some civilization. If you plan ahead you could also stay for some time in the Sedona area for killer scenery/hiking/fine dining etc.
