Hi, I'm curious if anyone has any experience with importing a Toyota Hiace across the Montreal Canadian border into the US. I'm purchasing a 1992 Hiace Cruising Cabin. Any experience with these?

I am currently working on this as I type. I decided to buy one already federalized. They are coming into Portland and Seattle every now and then.
Have you already bought one? 92 is the newest model you will be able to bring in legally.

I am having trouble with my insurance company. Make sure you have this somewhat ironed out before buying.

Some of the guys out west import them, swap out all fluids, replace all rubber including gaskets, some even replace radiators, timing belts, tires.
Good luck and let me know how it goes. I would have owned one back in December but my insurance Co wussed out. I'll let you know what else I find out as this process goes on. Doable, but not easy.

I had a good experience with Silk Road when buying a JDM Land Cruiser. That said there are some unfavorable reviews out there so ideally you'd be able to go up and see it in person.

There's some paperwork to sort but I was able to bring mine into the US and register and insure it no problem. Big thing is correctly and confidently proving the age of the vehicle.
