We returned from a weekend shake down trip to Lake Chelan, about 175 miles east of Seattle. A fabulous escape route carves a path through charming small towns, breathtaking Cascade passes, fertile lowlands, and everything in between. Setup Tundra and Eagle. The camper is warm and cozy for two and we enjoyed meals and drinks under the shaded awning. For city-dwellers, the stargazing at night is beyond belief! Here are some shot of the trip. -Kelly

What's the snow level at? We will be driving from north of Spokane to Seattle on Monday via Metaline, Kettle Falls, Coulee City, Leavenworth, Skynomish to Bellevue. Any thoughts/experience on that route at this time of year?

Besides routine road maintenance should be a great trip. Pics at Summit at Snoqualmie.

Any campsite recommendations at Lake Chelan for an August trip? We are planning a week long trip from the Portland area, a few nights at Mount Rainier National Park, then to Lake Chelan to camp and take the day boat ride up the lake to Stehekin.

We saw the boat pass while kokane fishing.

The boat ride on Lake Chelan is interesting, make sure to sit near a speaker so you can hear all that the captain is saying about the area.

We stayed at Lakeshore RV Park, City of Chelan. Centrally located to town, restaurants and shopping.
Free camping with electric at the Mill Bay Casino or dry camp at Walmart. -k

Not a lot of opportunities to find remote camping along the lake. Anything that is accessible by road is pretty built up. You could try 25 mile State Park, it's on the West side, nice campsites, has a boat launch/marina. It's been about 15 years since we stayed there but imagine it's the same. There's also Lake Chelan state Park, not sure of they have camping there though. Book a spot early, they get grabbed up quick (possible they are all booked by now)

(3rd deepest lake in the country, 1486 feet, bottom is over 300 feet below sea level. If you want to geek out on the geology ...
