Recently purchased an 87 Fleet and it has these C-shaped brackets running down the roofline full length from front to back on both sides. Any ideas?View attachment 32853 image.jpeg

Yup, awning mounts. You can also just use a cloth awning with a bolt rope. The bolt rope slides in the channel, with adjustable poles to hold up the other end.

These aluminum extrusions are also called awning rail...and they capture or hold the bolt rope sewn into the truck edge of a fabric awning.

More expensive modern awnings are often contained within a box of sorts and would not be used with an awning rail.

I recently ran onto this way to make hangers to put up a tarp or anchor something to the track.

Make your own Awning Track Hangers thread from PopUp Portal

If you don't want to make your own, they're sold on Ebay as 'Tarp Trackers'--- 8 for $15, free shipping.

Note that they're for 3/8" track.

They're perhaps better for a sun-shade given they don't close off the gap between the track and tarp like a bolt-rope awning would.
