Happy start to your winter...ours here in the NE is very weird... we've had a lot of rain (instead of snow) and the ground is saturated. We have cold, mostly at night 20's but day is still in the mid 40's!! so our ground has not frozen as it should (frostline here is 4 ft). That is not good for a number of reasons, insects, critters and plants which depend on a hard freeze. But I dread as well having to plow snow on a dirt road when the ground isn't hard... a mess. BUT the good news is on the 26th we gain a minute of sunlight!

Cheers Mr. Sage - Always enjoy this time of the year as the low angle light is pretty special. Hope to get out over the New Year!
Enjoy the holidays!!

Happy Solstice all. It is one of my favorite days to celebrate all year. Looking forward to sunsets later than 3:35 p.m.

Didn't winter start on the 1st though?
Meteorological winter started December 1.
Astronomical winter starts in about 10 minutes.

Morning light on the Elkhorns is a treat, they take on a reddish glow.
