Yikes! Total Canon Sell Off

My Gal and I decided to try Olympus Mirrorless system. We have been a long and loyal Canon user for many of years. It was a long hard decision but what pushed us over was the weight and size for traveling. My bag on my back was 40 pounds!

We are looking forward to the new learning curve and somewhat nervous at the same time.

ive been using an olympus mirrorless m1 for years. nice and light, still excellent quality

I picked up a Fuji XT-2 for same reasons. Lower my pack weight and a more portable system for travels. I'm still hanging on to my Nikon and will probably always have both systems at hand. When shooting from the rig/camp it is nice to have the full frame unit.

I love shooting with the smaller/lighter setup and have had no issues with image quality. We just got back from a sea kayaking trip to the Haida Gwaii/Queen Charlotte Islands and I was able to fit 3 lenses/body/acc into a 10L dry bag. Plus the lighter setup allows for a much more reasonable sized n lighter tripod.

Now when I go hiking there isn't even a second thought to throw the camera in.

Back in the film days I used to lug around a Canon F1 and some combination of a long lens along with a Leica M7/21mm so I didn't have to change lens on the fly. In the digital age I started with a Canon 5D/ Zeiss 21MM and my wife handled all of the long shots with her Nikon setup. Tired of the weight I bought a Fuji XE1/21mm and was glad to shed the weight and accepted the dropoff in image quality. My pocket camera was a Sony RX100 Mkiii for quick grab shots. 2 years ago my wife and I decided to really simplify and have been using our IPhone 8s on extended international and backpacking trips. We travel with sub 20 lb packs and and really enjoy the freedom of not having to constantly worry about protecting our gear from theft as well as the elements. Now I'm looking forward to the IPhone 11 Pro so that I can shoot wide again!!

Pvstoy knows I've been hawking my Canon gear over the last two weeks on FM, and have sold 5D4 and 7D2 bodies, plus white telephotos.

I've drank the Sony koolaide, and am running the A9 for birding at 20fps, and A7r3 for landscapes.
I just shot a women's triathlon and the AF tracking was awesome with the A9. Can't wait for birding season!
And..... my pre-ordered 200-600mm

Now I'm looking forward to the IPhone 11 Pro so that I can shoot wide again!!

I really like the pano mode on my iPhone, which substitutes well for wide angle. I've also given up on fancy heavy cameras since I stopped printing photos.

A friend of mine has been capturing some stunning images with his Sony. Can't wait to see some of yours. The Goshute Mountain raptor migration just peaked but I'll bet you could still see quite a few raptors. Have fun !!
