RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four Wheel Drive "Failure"

I appreciate everyone's input. I have another 18 months on the lease so the "buy a dodge" option is a possibility. The truck is working fine now. When it happened, I was able to limp to the dealer in 4lo. My concern about trying to fix this problem in the middle of nowhere is that messing...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four Wheel Drive "Failure"

Just curious if this has ever happened to anyone on the forum. I have a 2008 Sierra 1500 pickup with 4 wheel drive. The four wheel drive is controlled by a dash mounted control that can be set on auto or 2wd or 4 hi or 4lo. I spend most of my time mavigating the wilds of urban so. cal. The...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Oregon to New Mexico - 2 weeks, 4,000 miles, and 100 pounds of dog hair

Awesome pics and narrative DD. It's nice to camp vicariously when one cannot really camp as often as they would like. Noticed the windows/partitions around the picnic tables at that state park in Utah? Was it really that windy there?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pic's of the new hawk layout

Hey Keith: On your trip, did you make to China Garden Spring which is near Darwin Falls? It's a neat camping spot not far from Darwin Falls. There's lots of shade and a pond with koi fish in it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pic's of the new hawk layout

Nice interior. Was it custom made for you? The interior pics on the FWC site don't look like that. Was the fridge a special option you chose?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outside Shower Enclosure

We used the outback model on several trips. Even with the extra tie downs, the wind won. On one of the trips, a friend had the "utility room" from walmart. That held up well in the wind. We have since purchased one and found it has held up well for the price. Another friend has the Cabelas...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outside Shower Enclosure

We had the outback porta privy but it didn't hold up in windy conditions. Also never got the hang of folding it back up despite watching the video a bunch of times. We switched to the walmart utility enclosure and found it holds up much better in the wind:cool:

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Squeaky brakes

I keep getting squeaky brakes after driving on dusty roads in my 2008 GMC 1500. This never happened with my previous rides (Explorer and 4Runner). Anybody with same problem or thoughts on this?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West small bed, big aspirations

I forgot to mention that our truck is only a GMC 1500. So the weight ot the camper is a concern. The other popups I mentioned are "plusher" but heavier and maybe not necessarily more functional. From your threads, it seems the FWC/ATC products are definitely trail rated.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West small bed, big aspirations

We have a 2008 GMC crewcab pickup with the really short bed(5'8"). It seems that a hawk or panther would be the best fit. Any thoughts? Do any of you have experience with other popups such as Hallmark, Northstar, Phoenix campers? Your forum has been a wealth of information so far. Thank you!
