RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Hawk Owner need assistance :(

I'm not sure if this applies to all solar systems but my Morningstar Sunsaver solar controller doesn't recommend connecting an inverter to the load side. I'm not sure why but this is the warning in the manual: CAUTION: Do not wire an AC inverter of any size to the load terminals of the SunSaver...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Diesel Fuel

I installed a 54 gal tank in my truck to extend the range. It gives me more options on when and where to buy fuel but I usually refuel between 1/4 and 1/2 tank. Running out with a mechanical injection pump is a PIA to get primed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How Long Do You Keep Your Vehicles?

I've only bought 1 new vehicle due to my experience with the stealership. Most cars I've had were bought with high milage, driven a few years and sold for something newer or better. I've had my current Jeep since 75 although it's had 3 bodies on it. The 2 cars I wish I still had were a 60 TR3...

I put a Vmax SLR125 in the camper last year and it seems to be working fine. This is a 125 ah group 31 AGM for RVs and solar. Check the Vmax site they have models for several different applications.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How are you carrying your oversized spare with your FWC?

Most limited slip units have clutches that will wear out if run with mismatched tires for an extended period of time.

My daughter sent me this link about a bug invasion in the eastern Sierra and northern Nevada. Has anybody got caught up in this. Another good reason to avoid Burning Man. http://m.sfgate.com/news/science/article/They-re-in-everything-California-bug-outbreak-6456903.php

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anybody painted or plastidip their 4 wheel camper?

Actually a black roof will be much colder on a clear night due to radiation. That's how they made ice before refrigeration. A shallow pond with a black bottom will freeze on a clear night when the ambient air temperature is above freezing.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Charging Issues

I may be incorrect but my understanding was that the separator only monitored the voltage on the truck side. This could still be a problem if the camper is drawing enough current to cause the voltage at the input to the separator to drop below the turn on point due to the wiring resistance. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar - informal survey of brands and customer satisfaction

I have a 100W Renogy rigid panel mounted on the roof and a portable 100W Renogy flexible panel feeding a Morningstar Sunsaver 15 controller. This is the second flexible panel as the first one failed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water Heater

I've had problems with the pressure valve on my home water heater after opening it for a test. Sometimes it just doesn't seal properly after being opened. I think it's probably corrosion or debris on the sealing area.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hello, Ultra Breeze & Other Ventilation Questions..

My camper has fans in the front and rear. I find that I use the one over the bed more often than the rear one. It's nice to have a cool breeze when you're trying to sleep. If I was to order again I would just get the one over the bed and a vent in the rear.

If that rear latch isn't used the lift panel can rub on the canvas and cause abrasion. I found out the hard way.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Electrical confusion...

Don, I purchased this panel in march of '14 and the leads were about 2 foot. I believe this was a bastard panel because there were air pockets between the top layer and the cells and there were no grommets installed. I had driven 3 hours to pick it up and needed it for Baja ASAP so I accepted it...

Add one more to the failed Renogy flexible panel group. I sent mine back yesterday and will hopefully get the replacement soon. I am happy with the customer support but disappointed with the product. I'm glad it wasn't attached to the roof.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How many are towing a vehicle behind your PU camper?

I've flat towed my Jeep for years with no problems. Home made tow bar and no brakes. The CTD has plenty of power but I've also done it with a 318 powered Dodge van. After popping the ball hitch a couple of times on the trail I converted to a pintle hitch. It's a little noisier but I won't...

I had the same problem with the plastic rail breaking. I replaced the plastic with aluminum rails used for picture hanging. I think the product was called Z-Bar or Z-Hanger.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hoping to use prewiring for solar panel, but can't find the wire.

Call FWC with your camper S/N. They can give you the measurements to the location of the solar wires in the roof. It was scary drilling mine but the wires were right there. The interior solar wires on mine were terminated in front of the cabinet near the water pump and battery separator.
