RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Granby Broken door

I had this same problem last year and ended up replacing the door. FWC wanted $450 for a new door while ATC was asking $325. There may be some lead time involved because I think they order them in batches. Measure your frame and specify left or right opening.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I need to hear a good new joke

Paddy is sitting reading his papers when Bridgett hits him on the head with a frying pan. 'What was that for?' the he asks. Bridgett replies, 'That was for the piece of paper with the name Molly on it that I found in your pants pocket.' Paddy then says 'When I was at the races last week, Molly...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thule Hullavator on a Hawk?

I'm using the Hully Rollers and saddles. I also added a third crossbar at the rear of the camper. This allows me to slide the kayak into the Hully Rollers without rubbing across the rear edge of the camper roof. It helps to have a second person or a raised area to stand on.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing faucet in Hawk

Here's a shot of the faucet and soap dispenser. The faucet is a Kohler and the dispenser is from OSH. I had to replace some of the stock PEX plumbing with braided vinyl tubing and hose clamps to get the correct fittings to adapt to the faucet. Not sure what the exact fittings are but they were...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing faucet in Hawk

I installed a single hole kitchen faucet that reaches the center of the sink. I hated the short faucet that FWC installed. It would flood the back of the counter every time I washed my hands. I used the second hole for a soap dispenser.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New (to me) FWC Owner

There are no moving parts in the water monitor. The tank has 4 conductive feedthroughs at the bottom, 1/3, 2/3 and top. The top 3 are wired through resistors in parallel. As the water level drops the resistance referenced to the bottom probe increases as each upper probe is uncovered.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West wind vs. pop-top

I just got back from Baja and one morning we had 70+ mph gusts. Blew over all the outhouses but the camper did just fine. I kind of like the nasty weather in the camper. I just remember back to my tenting days and roll over.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Even More Solar Questions

I had the same problem with my 100w panel not keeping up with the fridge. Prior to my last Baja trip I picked up a second light weight flexible 100w panel that I hung on the side of the camper and that solved the problem. I wired it in parallel with the first panel using 30 feet of 12 gauge low...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Questions

The power from the battery separator goes directly to the battery. The 15amp Morningstar limit is only on the load output. The Morningstar unit only tracks solar amps input. The power input from the truck is not monitored.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Questions

ntsqd is correct. I hooked the load terminals to the camper and the battery terminals to the batteries. One of the reasons I did it this way was because I have the Morningstar monitor panel and you need the camper power on the load terminals in order to monitor power usage. If you don't have a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Questions

My setup is identical to yours with the camper batteries on the truck. I don't understand your description of the battery separator and how the solar can charge the truck batteries. My separator only connects when the engine is running. All that aside I wired the Morningstar load terminal to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Batteries running down early. What did you do?

Ted, I'm not sure if I had battery problems. I think the fridge was just using more power than the 100W solar could supply. My attempted fix was to improve the fridge efficiency by increasing air flow around the condenser coil and loading the fridge to increase the thermal mass. I haven't had...

I often tow the Jeep into the dunes at Pismo or Glamis without any problems. I do air down to 20 psi though. I have done some sandy stretches with full pressure when not towing but you have to maintain momentum. For the area you describe I would air down. You'll have a much easier drive with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Math - calculating the needs of a DC Fridge (or What's Wrong with my CR65?)

I am also using the Sunsaver controller and monitor panel. I have the fridge connected to the load terminals so I can monitor its electrical usage. The Sunsaver can be set to turn off at either 11.0 or 11.5 battery volts. The voltage shutoff on your fridge should also be adjustable. I was also...
