I'm hearing thunder right now... And though it didn't get as hot as forecast today, it's been mostly hot and dry for weeks. I expect a few fires will be lightning-sparked this evening. :(

A sighting close to home, as close as possible without being home: my [just-moving-in] next-door neighbor has a FWC Fleet! :o He tells me he's a fan of WTW, so he must be a good guy.

We have a Red Flag Warning here in Central Oregon...but it expires early Saturday morning. Just one very-hot day -- today -- here.

Nice to hear our local (Bend, OR) TV (KTVZ) news weather-talker (not a meteorologist) actually knows the meteorological seasons! And she's not afraid to say it. :) However...in about 3 weeks I expect she'll make a reference to the "the Official start of fall"... :rolleyes:

Next week, the first full week of [meteorological] autumn in Bend, has 3 days in a row of highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s. And that sounds like fall to me.

Livable... Maybe lovable.

By this time next week the temperatures here should be nice and normal. With overnight lows in the 40s, I may still leave windows open overnight, but no window fan.

Tomorrow's end of [meteorological] summer looks to be still full-on summer... ...and the beginning of fall also looks to be still full-on summer. Why can't there be more step functions in Nature?

I don't like the weather forecast for next week in Central Oregon: So I'm going to spend next week where I can experience this weather: I have a week+ reserved in a USFS campground on the Siltcoos River within walking distance of the frigid northeastern Pacific Ocean. Oregon State Parks...

We're still generally smoke/fire-free here in Central Oregon, presumably thanks to the wet, cold spring (thru early summer) we've had this year. There were a few lightning-caused fires from the thunder storms a week ago, but all little. With several days of hotter-than-average and sunny and dry...

Now the electrical power has been knocked out. :(

I think I'm going to enjoy the rest of the week -- and next week -- more than today. Not complaining... Today is forecast, at 96°F, to be the hottest we've had yet this year. This time last year we'd already been several degrees over 100F.

Here in Bend it's about $1/gal lower.

Here it is, afternoon in mid-June, and my furnace is running. :O No, still not complaining. I guess with above-average heat in a lot of the country, the cold has to go somewhere... ;)

It's raining here in Bend and about 50°F. Summer...summer? But really, I don't mind rain and cool in June at all. Even if it just delays the local fire season, it's a good thing.

I'm not a big fan of wind either. Maybe if I was a sailor I'd enjoy it...but I'm not, so I don't. But speaking of water craft: There were quite a few days this past winter (and late-fall, early-spring) on my kamp 'n' kayak tour through The South that I kept my boat off the water due to...

Unseasonably cold (or cool, at least) with rain today. Highs in the low 50s and lows in the high 30s -- tomorrow, too. Not complaining. :)
