No real great advice on the build, however, we have the north south bad and instead of using a king mattress we use a queen and it gives us the ability to turn the mattress east west and close up and keep all in place.. also a place to throw a dog bed for our needy dog who insists on sleeping up...

The Yakima BackSwing is bomber.. had one for bike rack (80 lbs and one mtn bike, 30 ish and one ebike 60 ish). Very stable.. adds 14 inches of length though so we went with another option when we got our new truck/camper . Old truck had tailgate down so the 14 inches was needed.

Also to note.. Electric coffee makes do not heat water to the desired temperature therefore making a sub-par cup of coffee.. pour over in my house for decades and camping coffee is the same, except somehow always tastes even better...

I moved those storage cabinets to the back wall, and added one.. and also added an open top one as well.. way better for storage..

We have a Grandby Shell with a couple options and its perfect in my opinion.. We have a furnace and I added a two burner cooktop. We mostly cook outside (splitter off propane tank for outdoor stove) but it sure is nice to have a space to cook indoors during inclement weather, buggy nights...

Totally agree with this.. I have 3 friends with Ecoboosts, one 2.7 and two 3.5 and none of them get better real world MPG than the 5.0 (the 2.7 does when empty, but not with a camper). I am on my second 5.0 and the motor has been flawless. IF.. I was towing heavy loads, ecoboost.. but with FWC...

I forgot.. I did add a bed insert for the bottom as well for an extra person or kid.. slides out from under bench cushions so its just there if you need it.

We went with a newer (2013) Grandby shell + and super happy with how big it feels. A couple features that really make a big difference for me are: King size bed, even though we still use a queen mattress, there is room for a dog up there (we have one who is a bit nervous almost all the time)...

Yes, solid advice.. however, some of us don't have options. Mine slopes a bit and there is no way around it.. slow and steady for sure, keeping as level as possible.. keep dolly under until truck is ready to be under.. Have done it many, many times with no mishaps.

Will just throw out there that I have a 16 F150 supercab 8 foot bed with heavy duty payload package (2610 lbs) and a Grandby. I have the 5.0 motor. Truck regularly gets 18-19 in mixed driving without camper.. can easily get over 20 on highway trips. With camper I get right around 16. I live...

I had to reuse everything.. used L brackets in the corners where the cracks were.. all in all it turned out to be a solid door..
