RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2023 Tacoma TRD Off road & 1999 Ranger (8’ model)

Added weight that far behind the rear axle will unload the front axle affecting braking and traction when turning (especially in wet weather). Get a bigger truck.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West DIY roof lift 12V Linear Actuators

Wondering why they added the internal tracks. seems like it would function fine with just the lift panels. Thanks for posting

Ditto what Vic posted, Are you on the same tank though out all these failures? Its possible your propane supply is contaminated with moisture.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Small holes in corners of pop-up vinyl.

I'll second the Aquaseal for small area repair like that. Clean well with the recommended solvent before applying. Larger repairs(tears etc.) can be repaired with the same materials and procedure for repairing a PVC inflatable boat/kayak.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Leaky Hawk

I noticed water intrusion while driving in the rain also but it was on my older(05) Hawk. Discovered the weather seal along the front had lost its shape over time. I inserted a length of small diameter of vacuum tubing into the hollow part of the seal to reshape it. No issues since. Like you I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Building a pop-up camper using an existing roof top tent

I had a 69 ford van with a pop top back in my early surfing days, hot coffee and soup after those cold sessions, I loved that setup. If I was that guy in the video, I would not store my hatchet with the edge exposed, just an accident in waiting.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk Leaks

I had a leak at the same location but while driving in rain. The black rubber weather seal that wraps around the front and back a few feet on each side had collapsed from age. I installed a piece of small dia. vacuum line into the hollow of the weather seal to restore its shape. Have not had a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Painting and Reattaching Aluminum Skin

I use zinc chromate primer for aluminum in the marine environment when using 1 part top coats. The primer you choose needs to be compatible with which ever top coat you apply. I used Algrip brand 2 part poly and the recommended primer to paint my old truck topper about 12+ years ago and its...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West BIG changes to FWC's video

I wonder if the cab over storage has insulation to prevent it from sweating. I wouldn't want to store my clothes there if that is a issue.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Leaks

Check the ceiling liner for wet/dampness, if none, then concentrate the search for the lower camper section(body). It doesn't take much of a breach in the sealant around jack brackets, windows, etc. to allow water in. A garden hose can be a wonderful diagnostic tool.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Carrying bikes on front of First Gen Tundra

I did and still do on my current truck, current truck has a Ranch Hand brush guard, which the carrier is mounted to. The 06 Tundra had a push bar and the carrier was mounted to it via a aluminum plate that spanned the cross bars. I like it on the front as the bikes are out of the way of the rear...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Should I Replace the Battery?

I've stuck with the AGM because like you, I don't require much 12v power and didn't want to spend money on something I don't need. Last replacement I installed a Renogy 100ah AGM and have been very happy with it's performance. What ever brand you go with, get a dedicated deep cycle battery not...

Many options out there, 1 option are the blue sea marine grade components which used by many on this site. If it were me I would stay away from the ultra cheap no name imports.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting Rack on Roof versus Hitting Wires

When I drilled into the roof frame I used a drill bit stop collar so the bit only barely broke through the tubing wall. This prevents the drill bit from over penetrating and possibly catching on and twisting up any wires.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Should I avoid a Fleet/Tacoma combo because of overweight?

If the camper dry weight is 1350lbs, I believe you will exceed the 3/4 ton mark easily(as you noted), by the time you add water, batteries, food, gear, persons. Probably closer to 1 ton.
