RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pirelli install question

I did a search and didn't find anything but I remember reading a post about installing Pirelli gaskets. I took the first piece of trim off and noticed that the gaskets did not go all the way to the corner of the camper. I.e. the end pieces do not meet the side pieces and as a result, there's a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck for the 6.5 foot cab over

I personally wish I had never bought a 1/2 ton with 6.5 bed because of the low payload. If I had to do it all over again it would be at least a 3/4 ton with 8 ft. bed then I would get a vintage 10 ft. Alaskan :thumb:

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help in securing camper

Can someone give me information on what size bolt to use when bolting the camper down? I'm thinking 1/2" Another thought is wouldn't a strong enough wind rip the flooring right off the camper even when it's bolted down? ? It's 3/4" plywood. Thanks for any help, Joe

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I have 2 batteries!

I noticed when I bought my truck there were 2 batteries and a small black box (about 2"x2") mounted to my firewall and a white wire going to the other side with another small black box. I forgot all about it until now and realize that I've got something good! So, the way I see it, one battery...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help in securing camper

I bought a 8ft, 3/4 ton truck bed trailer today. I'm going to use that to haul my AK. Doing it this way frees up a lot of space for me and I can haul my tool box in the back of my truck. And I can unhook it and make trips back to KC when I need to.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cleaning the upholstery question

i may have found someone to redo my seats. She's going to charge $90 per seat x 2 = $180 and that's for labor only. She's finding fabric for me and let me know soon and I have to call a guy on Monday about getting foam. I will probably replace the plywood too, as I'm sure it smells too.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Gaskets

Thank you. I will check into that. I'm also interested in the gaskets that go completely around the upper half of the trailer, where the upper half and lower half meet. It's held in place by a wood trim and three screws.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Would this be an insult to the AK community...

I weighed my truck and then my truck and camper today and found out my camper is heavier than I thought. It weighs 1160 for an 8ft. NCO. My GVWR is 7000 and if I did my math correctly, with a full tank of gas and me, I'm going to have about 180 lbs for anything and everything else. I think I'm...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Would this be an insult to the AK community...

If I took my beautiful American made 8' NCO and hauled it in a truck bed trailer and then towed it instead of hauling it? My tow capacity on 1/2 ton Chevy Silverado is 1700lbs. The camper weighs around 1000. With the fuel, me and other stuff I will have, I'm going to be pushing the limits. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cleaning the upholstery question

I'm thinking about tossing them and getting new ones because I don't think I can ever get rid of the mildew smell. Does anyone know how hard it would be to do it yourself? Where would I buy the material if I choose to go this route? Or, if I had someone do it, how much can I expect to pay? The...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Where to find serial number

I called Alaskan Mfg. today and he (Brian) told me where to look. For future reference, if you're standing outside and looking at the door, on the very bottom on the left side there is a "L" bracket that protects the bottom edge of the camper. Right there you will find numbers that are stamped...

No, I have an 8 ft., Not over the cab. I thought there was usually a plate riveted to the side of the camper with it but not on this one.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cleaning the upholstery question

My recently purchased Alaskan needs a thorough cleaning inside and out. The cushions for the dinette set looks to be in remarkably excellent condition, no rips and not stains...until I brought it home. My son was raising the camper and he must have raised it too far because the front tube...
