RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 4 x4 capabilities with FWC camper

I agree with the earlier post, if I'd take my truck there before I'll take it there now. Just make sure everything is well secured.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fall trip on the WRT?

I would do an October trip in a heartbeat, early to mid month if possible. We did 4 nights and I'd like to take 4-5 nights and do the trip again sometime, beautiful scenery and not terribly difficult.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sterilize Water Tanks

Little bit of bleach, doesn't take much, I want to say a couple tablespoons is the recommended amount for 20 gallons of water. I usually add about 1/4 cup and let it sit in there for a couple days while I drive around town so it sloshes around then flush it really well, about two fills and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Do You Carry Heavy Duty Chain?

Used to carry a chain and a strap in a jeep. The last use the chain was put to was skidding a section of log to where we needed it. Have no idea where the chain is now, probably in my ex's garage. Use a strap for everything now.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Limiting Factor - Water, Battery, Freezer space, Toilet Paper?

The two biggest limiting factors for me are time and water. I still work so getting large blocks of time away can be tough. Water is pretty self evident, 20 gallon tank. All that being said I've stayed out for 9 nights/days solo and still had water in the tank but have run perilously close to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2021 Trip to New Mexico

Really enjoyed Gila NF north of Silver City last fall, it was 7500'+ if memory serves. Went to Bosque del Apache in January for a few days and it was spectacular as well. Want to spend lots more time exploring the state. There was a trailer in Silver City that had great breakfast burritos...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hot water heater - necessary or luxury?

No hot water heater in the Grandby and pretty content. Like others I heat water on the stovetop for dishes. Showers are of the solar variety or baby wipes, occasionally I'll grab a state park CG where there are showers if I'm feeling really crusty.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Columbia and Snake rivers

Depends on what you want to do as you travel the route. If you want to add some side excursions like the Magruder Corridor or Lolo Motorway to the north in the higher elevations then you'll want to hit those areas in mid-late June at the earliest most years so you could start earlier at Astoria...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grandby Shell build, it takes a Village, a bit more install info, Zero Declination drop down shower

Appreciate the extra installation instructions. My old, cheap pop-up tent has seen its final days and the new one from Zero declination arrived with the kit but without instructions yesterday, just sent them a message but haven't heard back as I'm hoping to get it mounted this weekend. I'll...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Free Photo Storage -Amazon Prime

I had contacted SmugMug support at one point to ask about RAW file storage as Google searches indicated it was available at one time for an additional fee but they've discontinued it. The unlimited RAW storage with Amazon Prime works for backups but can't be used for commercial uses just backups.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Free Photo Storage -Amazon Prime

You don't have to, you can configure the Amazon Photos app to watch any folders including your My Pictures on a Windows machine or another, I just have it setup that way to handle the volume of photos and to be able to access photos from multiple computers in the house.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Free Photo Storage -Amazon Prime

In a nutshell I only shoot RAW photos and download all of them to a NAS device that is being watched by Amazon photos. Whenever I add a new folder or photos to the watched directory on the NAS drive it uploads them to Amazon and maintains the directory sturcture, I try to name my directories...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Free Photo Storage -Amazon Prime

I use prime storage, mostly as a cloud storage for my RAW (NEF) files. I have a SmugMug account that allows unlimited .JPG storage. The Amazon storage seems to work fine and I have it set to automatically backup the folders wherwe I download my cards to so there isn't really any thought...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West WRT/Muley/S. Coyote/White Pocket 3-1 to 3-14

It's been a crazy few weeks, lots of rain in the SW, I agree with you that the WRT should be CW only, every climb or decent made me nervous, I'm sure the outfitters want to maintain both directions for bike tours as it lets them use a single vehicle/trip for drop off of one trip and pickup of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 85 vs 130 liter Isotherm Fridge for new Grandby

I'm not sure it's possible to have too large a fidge in the camper. I replaced my original 3-way with the Isotherm 65 and it is frequently stuffed on a weekend trip with two people and we replenish the beer as we drink it. One of these days I'll probably modify things and put in a 130L but...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Google timeline

Interesting that it showed me just outside St. Louis, MO at one point but I've never been to the state. Turns out a company that I used to be at on a regular basis for a server colo facility now has a presence there.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West overland expo

Went last year for one day and that was enough for me to see what I wanted to. Many people camp onsite all weekend and FWC has a space available for owners but there are lots of people and I prefer my camping less crowded.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How many nights in 2019?

Probably my lowest total since owning my FWC, only 26. I suspect next year is going to be another low total as I start a new job January 13th. Maybe I'll get a good trip in between now and then,
