RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West BBQ for camper - with a poll!

Those of you that have the Weber Go Anywhere Grill, can you use the "fatty" propane 16 oz bottles? I looked at the instructions and they mentioned to use only the thinner (under 3" wide plumber type) bottles. That would be a deal breaker for me. Keep going back and forth between the Go Anywhere...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rain comes in window

Joanie, Yes the boot is a bad idea if you care at all about your paint. A better solution would be the roof vent in combination with a cracked window or the floor access tie down doors open. Better yet, a Fantastic Fan especially if your away from your vehicle. The best solution, of course, is a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West alaskan 8 ft 1968 weight?

I made the mistake of going to the Alaskan web site.....what a mess! Anyway after slogging through I found this: 1640 dry 1740 wet That is for a NEW cabover. http://www.alaskancamper.com/pricelst.htm

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West alaskan 8 ft 1968 weight?

Alaskans are heavy, all wood framed construction, and I would guess that camper is around 1,500 to 1,700 dry and empty. By the time you add yourselves, gear, water, food, etc. you will probably be well beyond your max payload. Check the door-jam yellow sticker for your max payload...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West jack brackets block view

Welcome DavidO. Nice find/price on those mirrors. I would do that swap in a heart beat if I had the standard mirrors. Nice truck and I see what looks like a new FWC in the background?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West jack brackets block view

I have pretty much the same set up as you only with the camper mirror option which I think is pretty much a must. It has the integrated wide angle mirror and I find no need to extend the head out at all, even with the jacks on. I think your only solution is to upgrade your mirrors or get one of...

Nice job on the option list....like the "euro" interior. Since we have just about the same truck and camper I have to say my impressions mirror yours. Congratulations.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finch on a 2nd Gen Tacoma-tailgate?

Yes, you can close the tailgate on a Gen2 Tacoma with the six foot bed. :) Sacrilege! Are you trying to say the bible is wrong???

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finch on a 2nd Gen Tacoma-tailgate?

As a rule, FWC are designed so that the tailgate can not be closed while the camper is loaded for safety and practical reasons: "Your truck’s tail gate will need to be removed prior to your installation appointment. The tail gate on the truck will not close once the camper is mounted on your...

Tell me when to stop :) Unfortunately, I believe it is a super fund site. Peru Creek is "dead" below the mine.

Hawk: 1525# Was that the final weight on yours? If so, that sounds about right. Mine was a little over 1300 dry with the jacks removed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Pawnee National Grassland

I camped there years ago on a Boy Scout outing and was impressed by the solitude and beauty of the area. What I remember most though, is that "Wyoming" wind. Smaller scouts, tents and gear were all causalities. I can see why they put the wind farms there. Great trip report, thanks.

I picked up a used Roamin Chariot a couple months ago. Great name for a camper. Had never heard of that brand before. Wood framed? Welcome.

From couple of weeks ago: Many just use foam Insulation: "The high density foam board has tremendous PSI capacity and weighs next to nothing. It makes ZERO sense to me to haul around extra lumber. I have been using the same 4 pieces for 5 years with zero compression. It also makes a great...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Info for Outfitter Caribou Lite

You haven't mentioned where your located, but if your in the vicinity of Colorado you should come and check them out in person. Hallmark, Outfitter, and Phoenix have factories here and now FWC has a dealership here. All within 30 or 40 miles of each other. You'll be spending a lot of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper more secure with top down?

My truck came with a factory alarm system but I haven't felt the need to add an alarm system to the camper. Don't tell anyone......but I added a fake one. Just a flashing led for a couple of bucks for the camper. Might cause an evil doer to move on to another target.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Power

The battery compartment is not vented, just under the seat, so the AGM is the only way to go. Only down side is the higher price but well worth it. My factory dual AGM system with the largest 110L Waeco electric frig and factory furnace has been fine for four or five days with no problem...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Power

Riverrunner, I assume your planning on putting wet cell batteries inside your camper? If so, I would rethink that decision unless you can vent them to the outside. This has been discussed before: (credit: Pods8) "AGMs (adsorbant glass matt) are sealed batteries that don't vent flamable gas...
