RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West An introduction by a new truck camper owner

Hi Thomas, Welcome to WTW and the adventure of truck camping. That Guanella looks like a nice setup. You'll have to head on down here and take it over Guanella Pass.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Shopping for Truck Campers

Welcome to WTW and good luck in your camper quest. My last camper was a FWC and we really enjoyed it. After 10 years of use, I knew what slight tweaks I wanted in the next camper. Currently, I have an ATC Panther and love it. ATC was happy to accommodate the customizations I requested. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Additonal Sleeping Platform Mod in Panther?

It is absolutely doable. I'm sure ATC could make a two piece cushion to fit the counter top and it would travel stacked on top of the stove/sink area. I have the over cab bed extension on my Panther and that is where the cushions travel. Mine is the standard size extended bed. My camper...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Small camper (fleet-swift) in a full size truck?

I had a FWC Ranger (LB Eagle) on a Gen1 Tundra and it fit great. I added aluminum plates for the jacks clearance. It was a little too narrow to fit on the new Tundra. Check the width of the camper and if it at least as wide as the outside of the truck top rail, you should be good.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West is a pop up really worth it?

My concern with a taller camper was back road access. We went through several pull behinds before I decided I wanted a pop-up truck camper, just really didn't like the RV lifestyle. I bought a used FWC and sold it 10 years later for more than I paid for it. If you want a shell model you can...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2011 Cougar Build Thread

Great write up. Can't wait. Does the door hit when opened? I ask because I was thinking about adding a tank mount in that location for a small 5lb propane tank for outside cooking. Really like this idea - Keep'em coming!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air bag and tire pressure

Here is pvstoy's discussion of this from back in 2007. I seemed to remember this from back in the cobwebs of my mind... ;) When you raise the rear with the air bags you are now telling the truck that it does not need the extra braking force to the rear for the added weight. This is what...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air bag and tire pressure

Keep in mind that the mechanical LOAD SENSING PROPORTIONING AND BY–PASS VALVE went away on Tundras around 2005 or 2006. See these links for more details on those systems - http://www.proactivate.com/tundra/brakes.html...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Am I out of luck with 1,200 lbs of payload?

ATC does build them light. I agree with Sage, contact Jeff or Marty at ATC, they can set you up. I have an ATC Panther, pretty loaded on a Toyota Tundra. I'm sure it is over 1000 lbs. and is no problem for my Truck. For minimum weight you can go with a shell and add in what you need, if...

ottorogers, Sounds great, hope this solves your problem. Please give us an update after you have used them for awhile. And if you take the camper off, let us know about the empty ride. Did you add 2 leafs or was that a new spring pack with 2 additional leafs?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Back-up cam

Yes it is but it is a complete solution with wiring and connectors that are an exact match to the factory wiring. And even at the Camera Source price it is less than half the price of the Toyota OEM camera. I did extensive research on options for the late model Tundras and didn't find another...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Back-up cam

I have a 2017 Tundra and used the camera source license plate cam. It plugs right into the factory connectors. I just switch between the two whether my tailgate is on or off. I added the angle aluminum piece to protect it a little...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air bag and tire pressure

I wouldn't do that for two reasons. Chances are the camper doesn't weigh the same on both sides and what rruff said. I have a 2017 Tundra and an ATC Panther, using ride rite air bags and TRD rear sway bar. I hardly need any air in the air bags. Each air bag has it's own air line. However the...
