RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thoughts wanted: How to use this space

Brett, I've seen other brands of campers with small doors in that area. I couldn't find a good picture on the web. You could add small doors that are attached with hinges to the camper surface and perhaps a latch on the outer top edge. You wouldn't want them to be too tight a fit just in case...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West couch design review

Very nice! Keep us updated on any mods and your final design. Did you find that it was comfortable in the sitting position? The backrest looks a little upright. Is the backrest still loose? When you finalize the plans would you be willing to post them? Great work! Thanks,

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fleet remodel

Sev3en, Wow, great work on the camper! Almost makes me want to go out and buy the old FWC Fleet that is for sale, cheap, here in Denver ;) Looks like a fun project - although my wife would probably kill me if I did :D Best of luck to you.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Looking to buy a "Hawk"

I have the 6' bed like the white Tundra pictured. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to having the tail gate up or down? New to the pop-up world... Please enlighten me. I have a FWC Ranger on my 2000 short bed Tundra. Sam pretty much covered it. I have been very happy with the longer...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West couch design review

Sam, I actually prefer the couch back being loose so I can lay it flat. I like being able to see out the right side window and can't do that with the couch backrest up. Just personal preferences ;)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Quick Help?!

KC, Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Hope you have a great trip! I had to replace the door glass on my last camper and it really was no problem. You should be able to remove the trim piece and use your caulk to hold the glass in place then screw the trim ring back in place.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West couch design review

Mark, A Really well thought-out design. Reminds me of the bed mechanism from my old ~70s VW camper :D in that it was taller in the bed position than in the seat position.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Looking to buy a "Hawk"

There are a couple of older Fleet models listed on the Denver Craiglist. Those should fit a Tundra. The Eagle and older Ranger II models may fit your Tundra as well. http://denver.craigslist.org/rvs/390203604.html http://denver.craigslist.org/rvs/384161638.html

jimjxsn... Just so the fourm knows, in 2002 (and newer) all of the four wheel campers were built with a power converter in the cabinets standard (except empty shell models). The converter will throw a charge to the aux. camper battery when you are hooked into shore power as well as power most...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West new owner

Like Ed says, you should wire it like you would a travel trailer so that it charges as you drive. There are many references on the web describing dual battery setups and trailer wiring. The FWCs don't have a converter/charger like a travel trailer. When off the truck, you can charge it with a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bobcat (width & head room ?)

Joe, Actually the dimensions aren't readily available on the ATC site but here is what I pieced together. Ben can correct if I'm off :D Bobcat width 73” and the upper bed is 70x76. Cougar/Panther width 84” and the bed is 47x81 (without extension option). Didn’t see the height but if it is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My biggest beef with my FWC...

kcowyo, I would just go for it and see what happens :D . If you have a leak just drain it out the drain valve. Then, clean it out and use it, the stock water system is a pleasure to have. When I go for the weekend, I don't even bring any extra water containers.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Heater or no heater?

Kestrel - is the FWC code for a Hawk chopped two inches to fit a 1st generation Tundra. So, is it chopped in height or in length??? I have a 2000 Tundra and I will say that not much else that is currently made has the same bed size as the Gen1 Tundra. I only mention that because your new FWC...
