RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to Pick Solar Panel Watts and Battery Amp Hours

Terrapin and some others have posted about electrical problems with their refrigerators (http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/12329-attention-a-electrical-sleuths/). I added some comments, but I also did not find much on WtW about how to pick solar panel wattage and battery amp hours, so I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Attention a Electrical Sleuths

All wire has some resistance - that's why the two diagrams are different. Insert a light bulb (a resistance) in each jumper wire for each diagram and you can see the difference.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Attention a Electrical Sleuths

Just came across this thread and I have some comments. First, the standard load test does not tell the right story for deep cycle batteries (unless they are pretty much dead). What you want to know is how many amp-hours are left. As deep cycle batteries age, they provide less and less amp...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Is A FWC By Definition A "Camper" In Oregon?

I researched this when we moved back to OR from CA a few years ago. I came across a section of the law under large motor coaches that dimensions are measured when extensions ("tip outds") are closed. This makes sense - a large motor coach with a side extension open is too wide to be on the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Questions

I mounted a 120 W solar panel to the front luggage rack bar (FWC's luggage rack), mounted crosswise with stainless steel hinges, I also mounted 2" rubber pads to the rubber pads to the side of the panel away from the luggage rack bar such that they rest on one of the roof ribs. A bungee cord to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anybody ever jump start truck from camper battery(ies)?

I had the occasion to verify that it works, You need the heavier gauge cables and you really have to have the best connection you can get with the cable clamps onto the battery (and the frame for the car battery end).

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic Fan Customer Service Thumbs Up

Same great experience as well. I bent/broke the cover interlock switch. The sent two replacements right away - for free. We also have their Endless Breeze 14" 12V fan. It is the best solution we have found for hot nights. The roof vent is nice, but a steady breeze directly across the bed makes...
