RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Turnbuckle?

I replaced the FWC turnbuckles after getting tired of having them come loose. Replaced with turnbuckles from McMaster rated at 700 lbs and have a lock nut to prevent loosening. Expensive but worth it. I allow for some play and don’t over tighten. I also installed a “failsafe” on the front...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hot water tank drain valve

I’ve repaired my pex using sharkbite fittings from Home Depot. Just cut the pipe and slip the fitting on. Use braided water hose and valves for sinks. I recently had a leak and replaced the drain valve.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Done something really stupid?

Took an inaugural run with my new Tacoma Off Road to Canyonlands NPS. Took the Schaefer Trail and Potash Road. I had filled up with fresh water at the Ranger Station. At the bottom of the switchbacks I got out to take a picture. You’ll see in the attached picture my keys hanging from the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fleet on 2019 Tacoma - truck bed build-up required?

I used TREX composite deck boards. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Trex-Enhance-Basics-16-ft-Clam-Shell-Grooved-Composite-Deck-Board/1000763522 Cut to match camper. Screwed to camper. Lite weight and won’t wick moisture.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Flatbed Interior Shower Curtain

I have the same curtain on a regular Fleet. I sprayed shoe water repellent on the curtain which solved the problem. I also add chalk to the shower pan seams to insure it was watertight and the frame doesn’t get moist.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fleet on 2019 Tacoma - truck bed build-up required?

I have a 2013 Fleet which was on a 2011 Tacoma. I recently bought a 2021 Tacoma Off Road and moved the Fleet to the new truck. I asked FWC what was required and received the following email. “You will have to add anywhere from 5/8"-1" of wood slats underneath the camper so it fits over the bed...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane Detector won’t stop beeping

Same problem with random alarms especially while driving or charging. I put a switch on the circuit and turn it on only at night. Problem solved and protection intact. Risk is forgetting to turn it on. I put a small piece of tape on the faucet to remind me to turn it on.

Done some stupid things with my Fleet. Yet another one. Month ago had a great trip up CA 395 (Horton Creek / Coyote Flats / Mazourka Peak). As usual when I get home I clean and prep the truck and camper for the next trip. I missed one small detail. I use bubble wrap in the egg shelf of the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC *indoor* shower owners: how is it? Likes / Dislikes?

Los Angeles: I have a Fleet with the front dinnette and shower. We use it everyday camping and have the routine down to a science. Yes, you can take a shower outside, however, I have found it easier and more enjoyable inside not dealing with the mud, lack of privacy and most importantly...
