RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 80 lb lift assist

Good to know the 80s are working out for ya. I installed a pair of 60s awhile back and like them quite well, but I'll bet the 80s would make the lift essentially effortless. If I had a concern with the 80s it's the additional effort that might be necessary to drop the roof against that higher...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Grandby Shell Customizations, Revisited

@ RC Pilot: Jim, actually we're in So. AZ and we mostly explore the same territory as you. We do plan on a few future trips to Alaska and the No. Rockies where the Refectix wrap should come in handy on at least a few occasions. It's already proven itself reflecting the late spring desert sun...

@ flipskid... JR, I'll be posting another set of pics in the near future, and will make sure to take several pics of my mtn bike mounted in place, and what I used for a secure but flexible tiedown schema. It's fairly ingenious if I dare say myself... stay tuned.

@ Ted: The exterior wrap just rolls out beginning from a designated spot directly above the camper door, then progressively encapsulates the liner (held in place just by maintaining surface tension against the liner). Then the ending edge overlaps the beginning edge by several inches with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West prewiring for vent fan -- wire colors

Hi, I have a 2011 Grandby with a roof vent that contains adjacent prewiring for an optional fan addition. One wire is yellow and the other wire is black. Can someone tell me which is the positive (hot) wire? This may seem to be a silly question, but the FV 4000R fan I'm ready to install uses...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West is tailgate really necessary to support 16" overhang?

Thank you all for your input. After re-looking over my spare wheel configuration I've concluded (again) that the framing pieces simply will not allow me to redirect the hoist's T-rod channel to a rear wheel well or other entry point, so it appears the Titan tailgate will continue to gather dust...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West is tailgate really necessary to support 16" overhang?

I have a 2011 Grandby Shell that sticks out about 16" beyond the rear edge of my Nissan Titan's bed, and this overhang portion is presently unsupported. While previous threads have suggested that I should remount the tailgate to help support the overhang, I have resisted putting it back on...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Turn Buckles vs Bolting Down

Thanks Sally and Tom for your input, Since my last Post I had an opportunity to weigh the truck before and after removing the Flip Pac. Before weight 4065 pounds. After 3640. Turns out the Flip Pac weight was 425 pounds not 325. After I remove the tailgate (another 100 pounds) I should be down...

Nice! Thanks for the pictures. Where did you get your cargo step? I couldn't make out the chains, are they to keep it from rocking side to side? I need to pick up one of those. Jim There are many vendors for these kinds of cargo carriers on Amazon for example (ours is 20x60"). A chain string...

Stabilizer jacks help in the wind? They definitely do. And they also absorb most of the typical bounciness of the truck shocks when you're moving around inside the camper or rolling over in bed.
