RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New camper! Looking for solar suggestion 160w or 200w?

I think you are on the right track. If you want some more specific information on trying to figure out how much solar try these two prior posts: Calculating Solar Wattage Needed http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/topic/11383-diy-solartrimetric6-volts-on-a-2015-grandby/ Measured FWC Power Use...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Install by Crane

Thanks for all of your support, comments and help on this. I do think that takesiteasy has a great suggestion on using a spreader bar. I do worry about putting too much stress on the jack brackets. I'll post something new when I get that part solved. However, I do think lifting up your...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Install by Crane

Camper install by Crane is now IN SERVICE! After a few attempts, I have a safe way to hoist up the camper for install. Here's what I did: 1. Attached 2000 lb ratchet straps to the corner brackets Had to slightly widen the original bracket hole for the bolt - but only by a small diameter change...

Ryan, Thanks for sharing that link. Looks like it worked pretty good with that setup.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Black Friday or cyber Monday sales?

Just saw this from Renogy Solar - Not huge but they rarely seem to ever have a sale: 12-15% off http://www.renogy.com/wp-content/uploads/Promotion/Black-Friday-2015.html

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Total Noobs, doing it all wrong

+1 on Bill's comments I'm on to my 3rd FWC and am very impressed with the upgrades that have been made in the last 5 years. I've visited both factories and made my last decision to stay with FWC after that last visit. However, if I wanted a custom camper I would have considered ATC or Alaskan...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to me grandby

That looks like great work. All that's missing is a WandertheWest Sticker on the back. I know I didn't feel my camper was ready for takeoff without it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Install by Crane

I have heard that from Stan before as well. One of my concerns from lifting the camper was to make sure it was pulled up in the same direction as the jacks would have pushed it up. Otherwise I worry the camper jack plates could be damaged.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Install by Crane

Phil, I've always had the reico Titan jacks - not the tripod versions. The jacks have always cleared my truck but I often put the camper on by myself. This means I have to back up many times to get it right - sometimes I bump the camper. I only have 1-2 inches on each side in the back of the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Install by Crane

Basin, Your picture and idea are exactly what I've been thinking about. I'm fairly certain you could pull up from the four corner jacks with the same effort/vector as the camper jacks. I have 2 lifts on my crane but it may be simpler to just use one.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Install by Crane

Anyone had any experience with placing their camper on their truck with other means besides jacks? I have used the reico titan jacks many times before, but I'm apparently still novice at it. I take the camper on/off a fair amount and am also looking for a fast and safe way to do it. I've bent...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Help

The ARB fridges are excellent. I have owned the 63 quart version for a few years and think they are fantastic. I found that your smaller fridge would use 0.7-2.3 amps per hour. http://store.arbusa.com/ARB-Fridge-Freezer-37-Qt-10800352-P21327.aspx Mine has the same compressor unit and uses...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Exterior Gas Strut Roof Lift Assists

Bill, I think this would put you at 250 Watts which should be great for your setup. That amount should work great with your compressor fridge and other electronics. I currently have 40 lbs external shocks on front and rear. My Grandby came with 20 lbs in back and 30 lbs in the rear. That was...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery Compartment Storage

I would be pretty careful with this, but it could work if done safely. If anything, especially metal, came in contact with the leads of your battery it will definitely spark and could ruin your battery and even worse, start a fire in your camper. So your partition would have to assure that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West charging truck and camper batteries with solar, using a battery isolator

Besides being able to charge the truck from your solar, what are the other benefits of using this type of separator over the stock FWC isolator? Would it make a difference in truck charging camper batteries when they are too low? Our current setup (stock) does not charge camper batteries if...

What was the cut-offs for the changes? This would be a great mod to be offered directly from FWC.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pull Out Faucet Mod

About a month ago, I took delivery of a 2015 Grandby and this is one of my first mods. I have always wanted a pull out faucet with my sink to wash dishes and anything else I need in my sink. I would definitely use it in the future with washing my hair during trips if I didn't want to use my...
