RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Frig tempertures

I have the same experience as Jim. The compresser fridge is really amazing and works amazing for me. It also doesn't run all the time even in hot conditions.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Opened Turnbuckles

I'm with Kilroy here. How many of you have actually had (or known of) a FWC falling off the truck because of eye bolt failure? I've never seen nor heard of it. My family owns 4 different FWC campers currently of various years and that's never been a problem. FWC has been using this same tie...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Transition to XP

There is currently a V3 mockup that is essentially a wood model. There are pictures of it posted on the xp camper website. http://xpcamper.com/versions/v3-coming-soon/ This is what Marc has to look at and what I saw. It is a pretty neat set up. It is still a work in progress and I don't think...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alaskan on 6.5 ft bed?

Does anyone have any experience or pictures of an Alaskan camper on a 6.5 ft bed? I'm looking for something not much longer than 7 ft. I pull too many trailers to do the tailgate down trick on 8 ft camper. Do they make that sized camper at Alaskan?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Transition to XP

I would love to hear about this too. I own a FWC but am considering a switch to XP or perhaps Alaskan. I've visted XP and seen their handy work first hand. It's pretty impressive. I'm very excited about the V3 model. It just sounds like it is at least 1 year or more away from production.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Is solar worth it?

Don, I just got back from a trip to FWC in Woodland. It sounds like they get more questions about this topic than anything else - by a huge margin. I've measured by a trimetric monitor my camper power use and studied this topic for sometime. I can tell you a few simple things I've learned. 1-...

Sledawg, What battery isolator did you use to replace the stock one?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk vs Grandby

I've always had the short bed (6.5ft) truck. But the more time I've spent in my Hawk, the more I wondered about having more room. I've been considering moving to a Grandby or even a flat bed model. I often camp with kids and use my camper often. Extra space is at a premium with our campers so...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bendable Solar Panels and Compressor Refrigerators

Jim That looks great. That's what I need to do with my mess of wires from 3 panels. Thanks for posting the pictures.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear flood light install questions

I did this install on my 2013 Hawk. I only found the green wire as well. I only spent 2 hours of looking before I figured out there was nothing else to find! I wasn't happy with the idea of grounding it to the frame. So on one side I spliced into the negative from the porch light. On the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West WOW a FWC like no other.

That is spectacular. Did you catch the diesel appliances in there? I wish FWC offered some of those XPcamper like upgrades.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bendable Solar Panels and Compressor Refrigerators

That's disappointing to only get 3.1 amps of charge. The tilt of the panels, time of the year, sun exposure all play a part in the amount of energy you can capture. We take a camping trip during our Christmas break and I'm always amazed how much more difficult it is to recharge then. The sun...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adding electric refrigerator

I have run both an upright Dometic and occasionally used an ARB 63 quart chest style fridge. The ARB was much more efficient. It is however only about 50% of the size of the dometic. The smaller and ice chest style compressor fridges are just far more efficient. That being said, I love my...

I'd love to see where you attached the propane connection as well. I've always thought about adding a wave heater but have not yet.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk Solar and Enhanced Battery Charging System

We have the exterior vent to but ours was a conversion from a 3 way fridge. I actually have 3 fans set up and it does seem to make a big difference. I'm glad to hear it works well for you too. I noticed a fair amount of heat building up in the posterior part of the fridge until I added the fans.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Connected: all 3 charging sources

I have been able to seen charging with the truck running and solar at the same time around 25-30 amps. This would be similar to 110 volt shore power. My solar doesn't charge must past 15 amps at a time. And my truck won't charge more than 15 amps either. I did have a load running of almost 10...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk Solar and Enhanced Battery Charging System

Do you have a compressor fridge? How many amps do you use with and without using the fan? It seems to make a big difference in my setup. I wondered if other people noticed the same thing.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Connected: all 3 charging sources

Essimers, I think several of us charge by solar and truck at the same time. The systems work well together and really speed up the charging process. I've also charged by solar and 110 together but not often because it's usually in the garage where solar doesn't do much. Charging by all 3...

Bill, Great work as always. Wish I had your patience when I install something. I think that setup will serve you well.
