RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Measured FWC power use

I did a trial about a week ago on this. Only 2 days of data so take it for what it's worth. Truck parked in the sun all day - no shade - and vent on sunny side too. No one in camper all day - it was locked. So the fridge never opened. Nearly same day time temperatures 85-90 degrees. Fridge on...

The Waco 110 seems to run at 4.5 amps or not at all. I have not seen it run at a smaller amperage - although I could be wrong. When I read the information online it stated that it would run something like 70% of the time when the temperature is 85 degrees or higher. I think that would be pretty...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fan in Fridge

I think they do make some battery powered fans to put in there. Here's a guy who drilled a hole in his fridge to install a fan just like that. I'm not quite that brave to drill into my new compressor fridge for a fan. I might try a battery fan though to see if that helps.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eva-Dry Dehumidifier

I bought this off amazon to try in my fridge and it really works great. It absorbs a ton of moisture when I am using the fridge or when I am storing it. It's like a big box of baking soda - but even better. It apparently uses some silica gel to absorb water. Once it is all used up the little...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Has anyone thought of going lithium?

I've looked at those before and thought they would be amazing in our type of use in a camper. You can apparently discharge them to 80-90% and still have a useable battery. I've always thought the price was way too high. Maybe you know a better source then mine. It was like $1300 for a 100 amp...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bendable Solar Panels and Compressor Refrigerators

I don't think you could go wrong with either of those. Here is a third group you could look at: Just look at eBay under semi-flexible 120 watt solar panel. These are the ones I bought. I just posted about them in the other topic about sealants.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adhesive sealant to install Flexible solar panels on roof

My panels are glued down. I've had them on for over 6 months now. I used a heavy duty construction adhesive from the hardware store. It has worked great. I've tried pulling them up and they are on really tight. I'm sure I could pry them up if I really wanted to. But it works great for me. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adhesive sealant to install Flexible solar panels on roof

I've bought several panels from eBay. All 3 of mine are from this seller: discountsolar Just look up Semi-flexible 120 watt panels Here are some pictures: These panels put out a higher voltage - 22 volts - when they have good sunlight. You might need a MPPT charge...

Ethergore, The truck had been charged up to about 94% before the journey by the solar. It was disconnected for the drive and still made 100% with just truck charging. Reaching 14.2 volts was nice because it meant that we could float charge the last little bit. There isn't a lot of power being...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Installing a Trimetric 2030

Jim, That looks like a great installation. Welcome to the trimetric family! My wife calls it a toy for battery nerds! :D I'd love to hear your measurements on your camper. It's great to compare from different campers.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Gotta love 3way refers... is it time to get DC?

I have done just that with my 2000 watt honda generator. It produces enough power to charge through the IOTA the same as if you were hooked up at home. It's a really easy solution to this problem. And that generator is incredibly efficient. It's kind of a pain to carry around along with the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Installing a Trimetric 2030

I am describing it with the left and right as you face the shunt - with the screws pointing up. It did seem to spell out in the instructions which side of the shunt everything was placed on. The shunt is just a highly conductive instrument from which all the power in your system has to pass...

I've seen several requests on the Trimetric 2030 installation and wanted to post a few pictures. Here is some information about the battery monitor in case you don't know much about it: http://www.bogartengineering.com/products/trimetric...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Measured FWC power use

Ethergore - This might answer some of your questions: I did notice a few things during my second trip studying truck charging of the camper battery. On my trip back home, the camper battery bank was at around 94% to start the journey. I had used the solar to get my battery closer to full. The...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Measured FWC power use

Paul, I ran the engine today to test out idling for truck truck charging and found this exact problem. The voltage was at 12.2 volts when I started the truck. The compressor fridge was running. I could get it to charge up to 12-14 amps but then the battery separator would click and the...

I have the same 2.5 hour drive back home tomorrow. Let me see if I can get the battery closer to 80-90% charge and then travel with just the truck powering it again. I think there is a good chance that the volts go up as amps go down. That was already starting at the end of the trip. My highest...

Here's my report on the truck charging data: Drove 2.5 hours - mostly interstate speeds 75 mph Replaced 26 amp hours total. Average charging of 10.4 amps per hour. Voltage remained around 13.0. My highest voltage recorded was 13.1. My battery bank went from 58-70% of charge. I...

Bill - that's a great video thanks for posting. That gives a great explanation of the real time data you get with the monitor. When I measured all the FWC equipment earlier in the post it was very similar to that video. Anytime you turn anything on or off it tells you exactly how many amps just...
