KG6VMX: Bill, I have a dual band plus a ic-706 in the cab....when i am in camp, I will often remote the heads into the camper. Nice. Do a lot more listening than transmitting, but fun to run the radio at night and listen the the circus on 75/80. I also use a yaesu 817 sometimes. Like to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wind Fairing

Nice fairing! I use a stock Yakima one and it does cut down on the wind a lot. I do wish it were bit wider as the sides of the top front of the camper still gets a fair amount of bugs. I cannot tell any diferrence in mileage. Just keeps the bug cleaning down! Dave in Seattle

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof Rack Basket

Looks like a very nice and less expensive system! I would worry about a few things... 1. wind resistence. looks like a lot of surface area on that plastic. May pick up a lot of wind. Will have to try it. Also, watch for noise. When i had a rack and basket on top of the camper, boy did...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Effective Bug Removal

yes, bugs suck on the camper... I have tried this on the front of my truck and camper and seems to work... wet them, cover with paper towel or cloth, keep them wet for a while, then wash. Seem to come off really easy if they soak...... Pre-waxing does seem to help as well..... good luck...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Keeping Cabinets and Drawers Closed

cabinets and doors always open when on those rocky roads.... I used velcro, 2 inch variety. a couple of piece on large doors, one on the small ones. When traveling, put the other side of the velcro on and it holds very nicely. When in camp, just remove and use as usual. simple, easy and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Engel/Norcold users answer up

Seems I have never isolated my arb 45. when in he camper iit is inline with the battery. It is a second battery and is isolate from the main engne battery, I have been running this for years. No problem unless the battery is really down, then I just unplug or a lttle while unil it gets ome...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eastern OR / ID?

Pod8: We should arrange an old Eyeball meeting one day. I'd love to see your mockup for the couch bed and I can show you maps of WA, OR and some cool places to go. Would be fun. I am out of town this weekend, but next might be cool. We can think about good times in the hills and maybe have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cool Beans!!!

Hey everybody! I just wanted to say hello from 37,000 feet. I am on an alaska airlines plane for the bay area. they installed and turned on the wifi service for the first time today. I just flew over mt. shasta. man, this is cool. If I only had this kind of service from the camper, now that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Converter/chargers

I thought about putting a converter in at one time. Then I thought about how I actually use the camper. Rarely, am i near shore power. Rarely, would I have the opportunity to plug in. Would be nice to have the option, but that would increase the complexity of the entire system. So, in KISS...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Joined the FWC club

Congrats on the new camper! It really is amazing when you look at the old and new FWC how little they really do change. I seem to always focus on the differences, but in reality, they are quite versatile and more the same than anything else! Welcome and good luck! Dave in Seattle

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I have an idea for the do everything couch in a hawk...

Pod8: Ah, so nice to see your prototype. Of course, the old structure would have to go and I would assume you would keep the access panel for the turnbuckles free. Not a lot of space up front i notice. One thing that is clear, once the bed is in the UP position, there become more room under...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Need advice on a switch

Yes, I always liked having a way to isolate the camper battery from the charging circuit. I did mine two ways...... 1. 70 amp circuit breaker with resettable fuse. That way to isolate the positive side, just tripped the circuit breaker. 2. big knife switch on the negative side. Undo the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Out of the Closet

Cool Story. Cool Rig. Congrats on the new toy. Will bring much joy to you, especially when you are in the 'rain. I remember the first few times out and it rained. Just sat and listened to the rain hitting the roof. Yep, those days of the wet tent were finally over. Yes! Anyhow, welcome...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Safety wire?

This alarmed me when I first started out.....each time you remove the camper, you have to go through it. the more often you tighten, the less you have to do it. I also changed out the turnbuckles and use one with loops instead of hooks. fancy carabiners attach them to the eye bolts. Even...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Batteries - Bang for the buck/weight?

Some of the better AGM batteries are the Odyssey batteries. They are rebranded under the sears name and are easy to get. Nice warranty. But they are expensive. largest is the group 31. They don't make a group 27 which is what i need in my truck. sucks. Check out sears and see what you...

I thought Pod8 wanted a table type saw?!? I have a nice jigsaw that I bought last year. A bit more, but nice. Craftsman. I don't have a table saw or a band saw, but if this is what you need, I do have one...... just a few miles south at that! Dave/seattle

Band saw! sorry, don't have one. But, I always think that a project that requires new tools is always a good one. I think the key is getting the rotating cross bar correct is the key part. Once that is working, the rest will fall into place. I went to the Portland Outdoor show and stan as...

Pod8 Yes, your replies are very encouraging!!! Some added notes: Don't sacrifice the cushions. Nice thick ones are good when sleeping. Man, those 2inch over cab cushings need a lot of help.... Under the seat storage is nice now because i basically have a big box to store things in. Rigid...
